    Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake for 1st Birthday – How to Make

    It was for a small boy’s first birthday celebration that I created this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake.The cake was, of course, ordered by the children’s parents.Aside from that, they provided me with a specific Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake image that they wanted me to duplicate for their son’s first birthday cake.The original clubhouse cake image had a 3D Mickey face on the cake, which was the same as the 3D Mickey face on the cake that I reproduced.

    1. The sides of the cake, on the other hand, were decorated with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on a blue background with white clouds on top.
    2. I modified the backdrop to white and, instead of clouds, I put stars and spherical fondant cut-outs on the top of the cake.

    How to Decorate a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake

    Main supplies for the Mickey Mouse cake design:

    • It is truly a two-layer cake, with a Mickey Mouse face cake on the first tier and a clubhouse cake on the second tier, as shown in the photo. Both cakes were made with my butter pound cake recipe, which can be found here. It was cooked in a bowl for the top layer and two 8-inch round cake pans for the bottom tier.
    • Buttercream – I used buttercream to sandwich the bottom tier of the cake and to crumb coat the top and bottom of the cake.
    • Fondant – The entire cake was coated in fondant and then embellished with fondant flowers. I used Satin Ice in white, black, yellow, red, blue, and light brown (white fondant tinted with Wilton Brown food color)
    • Satin Ice in black, yellow, red, blue, and light brown (white fondant tinted with Wilton Brown food color)
    • Satin Ice in white, black, yellow, red, blue, and light brown (white fondant tinted with Wilton Brown food color)
    • Satin Ice in white, black, yellow, red, blue, and light brown (white fond
    • CMC powder — I used this to make Mickey’s ears out of black fondant, which allowed them to dry stronger and better keep their form after being placed on the cake.
    • Letter cutters from Clikstix– these cutters were used for all of the lettering work on the cake.
    • The following items are included in the set: star plunger cutters, round plunger cutters, round cutters, extruder tool, pizza cutting wheel, sugar craft knife, needle scribe tool, fondant glue, and extruder tool.

    Baking and preparing the cakes

    • I began by preparing the cakes for serving. Due to the dome-shaped nature of the cake I used to create Mickey Mouse’s face, I baked it in a stainless steel mixing bowl. To make the bottom layer of the cake, I used two circular cake pans that were each 8 inches in diameter.
    • After the cakes had been cooked and allowed to cool completely to room temperature, I flattened and sandwiched them together with buttercream, finishing with a thin buttercream crumb coat on both.
    • I coated the bottom layer of an 8-inch circular cake with white fondant and placed it aside while I decorated the ‘Mickey Mouse face’ cake on top of the bottom layer.

    Mickey Face Cake Topper

    • I used black frosting to cover the dome-shaped cake to create the 3D Mickey Mouse face. Following that, I sketched the light brown area of Mickey Mouse’s face on a piece of parchment paper and used it as a template to cut out the light brown portion of Mickey Mouse’s face from fondant. On another piece of paper, I created Mickey’s eyes, nose, and mouth and used these as templates to cut out these characteristics in black and white.
    • I affixed the eyes, nose, mouth, and brows to the light brown fondant cutout (from the previous stage) and then adhered it to the cake using fondant glue. The face characteristics are easier to add this way rather than by putting them directly on the cake.

    Mickey Mouse’s ears

    Following that, I created Mickey’s ears.All of the shapes were made completely of black fondant.I added CMC to it to make it hard and stiff, which is what I wanted.Then, I cut each ear with a circular cutter until it was approximately three millimeters thick on each side.

    1. This was done in order to allow a small wooden skewer to be pushed through the middle of the ears to assist in positioning them on Mickey’s face as well as holding them in place on the cake while it was baking (I brushed the skewers with some glue before poking them into the fondant).
    2. It took me a while to get around to sticking the ears into the cake when I finished preparing them.
    3. Then I let them sit for a couple of hours to firm so that they don’t shatter or come loose from the wooden skewers when they’re put on the cake.

    The Clubhouse cake design

    • The bottom layer of the cake (which had the Clubhouse pattern) was decorated while I was waiting for Mickey’s ears to set.
    • I started with the image of the Clubhouse. I used my round cutters and sugarcraft knives to cut out the components of the Clubhouse, and then glued them to the cake to complete the design.
    • Then, on one side of the cake, I drew little stars in red, blue, and yellow to decorate it. While I was working on the opposite side of the cake, I cut out rings (using my circular cutters) and adhered them to the top.
    • When I was making the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake border, I pinched little pieces of fondant in the colors red, white, black, blue, and yellow in equal proportions. I rolled them into round balls and used them to decorate the cake all around the perimeter. When I was adding these balls to the cake, I made sure that the colors matched the embellishments on the edges of the cake.

    Finally, I stacked a Mickey 3D cake on top of the clubhouse cake layer to complete the design. Because the face cake was fairly large, I used dowel rods to maintain its weight on the bottom layer of the cake to keep it from falling over (similar to supporting a tiered cake).

    • After that, I decorated the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake with the wordings. The letters were carved out of blue fondant with the help of the Clikstix alphabet cutters. I personalized the cake by writing the birthday boy’s name on it. The statement ″Our baby turns one″ was written on the cake board, on the other hand.
    • After that, I put a medium-sized long strip of black fondant to the Mickey Mouse face cake to serve as a border for the design. The border was solely affixed to the cake’s black component, which was the only part that had a border. To the front side of Mickey’s face, I did not put any borders or frames.

    It was at this point that the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse birthday cake was completed.
