    Baking cupcakes in ice cream cones is a cute and original concept, and I wish I could take credit for it, but this was originally brought to me by a written recipe on the side of a Pillsbury box (I believe) more than a decade ago.This time around, I decided to bring these masterpieces back to life, but this time using a handmade cupcake recipe and icing that was designed to look like soft serve ice cream.I’ve always baked my ice cream cone cupcakes in a cupcake tray and have never had an issue with them falling out of the pan.Simply place one cone in each cupcake cavity and use a steady hand (or two steady hands, if possible) when filling your cones and transferring them to and from the oven to achieve the best results.You can, on the other hand, snugly fasten each cone by wrapping a piece of crumpled aluminum foil around the base of each cone before assembling (as I show here with the bottom right cone).

    1. It’s important to allow your ice cream cone cupcakes to cool fully before applying the icing on them.
    2. The soft-serve swirl on top of your ice cream cone cupcakes is entirely optional (we used to just put icing on top of our cupcakes when we were kids), but I believe it adds something unique and adorable to each cupcake.
    3. In order to keep things easy while creating the frosting tastes, I made one batch of frosting and then flavoured half of it with cocoa powder, rather than producing one flavor and then beginning over to create the second.
    1. Fill one piping bag with your vanilla flavor and another with your chocolate flavor, cut the ends off the piping bags, then insert those piping bags in a third (ideally bigger) piping bag that’s been fitted with a Wilton 2D tip to create the swirl in today’s cupcakes.
    2. A couple of things to remember: a little frosting goes a long way, and while the swirl is adorable, the higher your cupcakes are, the more difficult it will be to put them in a container.
    3. These cupcakes should be kept fresh for many days by storing them in an airtight container (I normally keep mine at room temperature unless it’s really hot outside, at which point I put them in the refrigerator).
