- I wanted to construct my son’s favorite vehicle, Lightning Mcqueen, from the Disney movie ″Cars,″ for his 2nd birthday, so I decided to make him a replica of the car.
- For me, this is a challenging project.
- As you can see, I’m a complete novice when it comes to creating 3D cakes.
- I was a little unsure of what I was getting myself into.
- And, boy, was I in for a wild trip at the time.
- On my first effort at making a vehicle cake, I made a slew of blunders.
First and foremost, the cake I cooked was far too little.I was aware that I would be cutting the cake, but I had not anticipated that chopping a little cake would result in it being much smaller.With each piece of cake that needed to be removed, I became increasingly concerned that there would be insufficient cake left for the visitors to enjoy.As a result, I chose to paint the color on the fondant after the cake had been completely coated with it because I was short on time (read: lazy).

Carving a Cake Cake the easy way
- When making a vehicle cake, it is easy to lose sight of the shape of the automobile as you carve it out of the cake. - Pro tip: place the cake in the freezer for an hour or two. When you slice, it helps to produce less crumbs.
Frosting
Combine the chocolate and heavy cream in a large mixing dish that can be microwaved. Heat for another minute or two, or until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Mix in the vanilla essence until well incorporated. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight.
Decorate
- The template for the automobile you want to build may be found on Google and printed off. Print it out to the exact size you want the cake to be – not a scaled down version! Alternatively, you might sketch a schematic of a dream automobile on paper and use it as a template to build your vehicle. Pro tip: If you’re making a large cake, you may need to scale the print on a few of pages.
- Prepare the cake by carving it using your pattern in the manner seen above. Cakes should be cut into pieces, then arranged and layered according to the template. Make sure you pay close attention to the hood and that it is in keeping with the overall style of your vehicle. a ring of frosting around the front of the cake
- After you’ve cut out the form, start working on the ganache. Using a small layer of frosting between the layers, frost the cake and crumb coat it with a thin coating of icing. Refrigerate the cake for 15 minutes before serving. Then, using extra icing, cover the entire truck with it, making sure to have lovely square corners. I used white fondant and airbrushed it yellow, but it would be easier to work with white fondant and airbrush it yellow. Use a cake smoother to smooth and produce square corners all around the perimeter of the cake. Added a few fondant pieces to the back and sides of the cake to give it a bumpy or embossed appearance before covering the entire cake with fondant.

Cut two short strands of licorice and place them at regular intervals directly below the top line of licorice on the front glass. These are used as the car’s visors, and they are rather effective.
- Cut two short sections of hair. Orient the wipers diagonally across the front window, upwards, to provide the appearance of windshield or windscreen wipers being used.
- Licorice lengths are used to outline different portions of the vehicle. Work carefully on these sections since they are what makes the automobile appear genuine. If you are unable to use licorice, you may substitute any other type of flexible candy length. If you are unable to get candy, use a dark colored icing or frosting and pipe it into the desired shape. Run the length of each side of the automobile, starting at the front and ending at the far back of the car. This should be placed along the edge of the cake on either side and serves to create the tops of the automobile doors, as well as defining the car’s silhouette.

Step 1: Carve

- You may also use red and yellow fondant dots to make lighting for your cake.

How to Make a Race Car Cake Topper (Easy Tutorial with Images)
The F1 race car cake toppers that were on my son’s birthday cake last year have gotten a lot of attention, and I’m happy to oblige. In order to accommodate every child Formula 1 fan, I’ve created a lesson on how to construct a race car cake topper.
What You Need for Making a Race Car Cake Topper
- The vehicle topper is constructed entirely of gum paste, while the wheels and helmet are made entirely of store-bought black rolled fondant, which I painted black. This is the language I used: The following items are required: White gum paste, Black rolled fondant, A small amount of white rolled fondant, Gel Paste color, Rolling pin, Cake smoothers, Tylo glue (to keep the fondant from sticking to your work surface), Small knife, Piping tips or small circle cutters in various sizes, and a small amount of gel paste color.

- ball tool (JEM)
- and strip cutter (JEM) 1 little plastic bag (which is not visible in the photo)
- 1 strip cutter (if you don’t have one)
- 1 ruler (if you don’t have one).
Racing Car Cake Topper: Step-by-Step Tutorial
- Step 1: Begin coloring the gum paste with the color of your choice.
- Roll the ″ball″ into a cone, making sure that one of the ends is somewhat thicker than the other (and the other end a little thinner).
- I make an effort to keep the length of the race vehicle to around 3 inches (8cm).
- Step 2: Using a pair of cake smoothers, flatten the sides of the race vehicle as much as possible.
- Place the automobile in a plastic bag and set it aside for the time being.
- This will help to keep it from drying out as much.
- Step 3: Roll out a thin layer of gum paste about 2mm thick in the same color as the race vehicle and set aside.
- With the little knife, carefully cut out the spoiler.
- It’s best if you cut out your shapes by hand, but you may also use a ruler if you like.
- Make sure the spoiler is a bit broader than the race car’s front bumper.
Remove from the oven and set aside to dry thoroughly.Make a lot of spoilers in case something goes wrong.In the event that the first one fails.Step 4: Roll out part of the black rolled fondant to a thickness of about 5mm.
- Find two different-sized pipe tips or circle cutters and use them to cut out one large pair of wheels and one little set of wheels for your vehicle.
- I used circular pipe tips to emboss the middle of the wheels, which you can see below.
- Remove from the oven and set aside to dry.

- Take a piece of white rolled fondant and roll it out as thinly as you can.
To cut out 1 fondant strip, use the strip cutter or a ruler to cut it out.Keep in mind that you should not cut out the fondant circular until after step 9.Step 6: Take the race vehicle out of the plastic bag and set it aside.Apply a very thin amount of Tylo adhesive to the rear of the white strip and adhere it to the racing car’s body along the center of the car’s length.
- The fondant strip is being trimmed using a knife to remove any extra.
- Make an indentation in the centre of the automobile, where the ″driver″ will be seated, with the ball tool and the sandpaper.
- Step 7: Take a little piece of black-rolled fondant and form it into a small ball/helmet shape using your hands.
- It must fit inside the depression of the race vehicle, so check it carefully.
- Apply a small amount of adhesive to the ball/helmet and insert it in the indentation.
- Glue on a little piece of white fondant to serve as a face shield to the ball/helmet you made before.
- Remove from the oven and set aside to dry.
- Step 8: When the wheels are almost dry, use Tylo adhesive to attach them to the race vehicle.
- Wheels with small diameters in front and huge diameters in back.
- Step 9: Roll two little oblong balls and stick them to the white fondant stripe on the rear of the race car, one on each side of the stripe.
- Apply a very thin layer of adhesive to the spoiler and carefully connect it to the vehicle.
- Make a little circle out of white rolled fondant and glue it on the front of the vehicle to finish off your car cake design.
- TIP: Once the white fondant is completely dried, it is much simpler to write the race car’s number on it.

How To Make A Car Cake (Mini Cooper)
Hello there, bakers. An easy-to-follow instruction on how to build a Mini Cooper automobile cake is provided below. These fundamental ideas may be applied to any type of car cake with relative ease.
- Bake two 8-by-10-inch cakes and arrange them on top of one another without any gaps. I prepared a chocolate madeira cake using this recipe, which you can find here.
- Remove a length from the side to increase the breadth of the automobile
- The corners should be rounded
- Make a slant on the back of the cake to accommodate the boot.
- Create a bonnet by carving through the front of the cake and sloping down from the top to the bottom.
- Carve two indents into the bonnet to form the shape of the headlights, and then paint them.
- Dividing your cake into as many layers you like is entirely up to you
- Fill up the gaps between your layers with the filling of your choice. I’ve made chocolate buttercream (recipe may be found here).
- Reassemble your cakes by stacking them on top of one another and allowing them to set. Next, use a ‘crumb coat’ to cover the top of your cake with a thin coating of buttercream or ganache.
- Roll out your frosting to a thickness of 5mm
- Using your rolled out icing, cover the cake, smoothing it down with your hands as you go and pushing out any pleats or folds that may have formed as you go. Smoothers can be used to provide a high-quality finish.

- In a small saucepan, heat the jam until it begins to bubble.
- Remove from the oven and let aside to cool somewhat.
- Place the cake on a chopping board upside down to prevent it from falling over.
- To produce two wedges, start at a point little more than halfway across the top of the cake and cut diagonally through the cake to the bottom border.
- The top of the bigger slice of cake should be lightly brushed with jam, and the smaller piece should be lined up on top of it to form a steep slope.

Carefully place the tree on its cocktail stick back into the hole in the cake, making sure not to damage it.Once the tree is in position, squeeze the top of the tree to form a point.Repeat the procedure with the remaining trees.Using two-thirds of the black icing, shape the heads and bodies of the penguins by dividing it into three little and three large balls for the heads and bodies.
- After attaching each head to a body with a small amount of water, create the flippers by shaping the leftover black icing into six balls and pinching them into shape.
- Water should be applied to the sides of each penguin’s body.

- Divide the white icing into three tiny and three big balls, and flatten into circles using a rolling pin.
- Stick the bigger pieces onto the tummies of the penguins using a small amount of water.
- Cut a little triangle from each of the smaller circles and use water to adhere it to the larger circle to form the face of each penguin.
- Insert a cocktail stick through the white faces into the black fondant, wriggling slightly to expand the hole.
- Repeat this process to create the eyes.
- For the beaks and feet, cut triangles and ovals out of the orange icing and stick them to each penguin’s body using glue.
- Make red fondant accessories for the penguins like as hats, scarves and ear muffs and then put them on the ski course and board, using cocktail sticks to secure them in place if necessary.
- In order to complete, sprinkle the sugar snowflakes on top of the ski slope and around the cake board, and then sift icing sugar over the penguins and trees to give them a snowy appearance.
