How To Make A Volcano Cake Erupt Chocolate?

Tap out the excess cocoa but make sure they are well coated. Pour the Volcano batter into the ramekins filling them about 7/8 of the way to the top. Place on the pre-heated sheet tray and bake for 15-18 minutes. The consistency when done should be where the edges of the cake are firm and the top is still soft to the touch.

How do you make marshmallow lava with dry ice?

Place glass or mason jar inside the frosted cake. Add a small amount of dry ice, marshmallow lava, and remaining 1/4 cup water. Dry ice will create a ‘smoke’ effect and cause marshmallow lava to bubble over cake rim. The warmer the water in step 13, the more the cake will seem to ‘erupt’.

How do you make a lava rock cake?

Arrange cake trimmings as ‘lava rocks’ around the base. Refrigerate until frosting sets. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Combine white sugar, light corn syrup, and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan.

The original recipe yields a total of 20 servings. The ingredient list has been updated to match the number of servings stated.

  • Checklist for Instructions Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C). Using butter, grease one angel food cake pan for the base cake layer and one fluted tube pan (such as a Bundt® pan for the top cake layer). Advertisement
  • The foundation cake layer is made by combining 1 cake mix with 1 1/3 cup water, 3 eggs, and 1/2 cup melted butter in a large mixing dish to form the cake layer. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed for about 30 seconds, or until well combined. To smooth out the batter, turn the speed up to medium and continue to beat, scraping the bowl regularly, until it is smooth, approximately 2 minutes. Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cake mix, 1 1/3 cup water, 3 eggs, and 1/2 cup melted butter to form the top cake layer
  • pour into the prepared angel food cake pan. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed for about 30 seconds, or until well combined. To smooth out the batter, turn the speed up to medium and continue to beat, scraping the bowl regularly, until it is smooth, approximately 2 minutes. Pour into the fluted tube pan that has been prepared.
  • Step 4Bake the cakes in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until toothpicks inserted into the centers come out completely clean. Allow pans to cool for approximately 5 minutes. Invert onto wire racks and set aside.
  • Step 5Sift together the confectioners’ sugar and cocoa powder in a large mixing basin
  • Step 6Combine 1 cup softened butter and the vanilla extract in another large mixing bowl
  • beat with an electric mixer on low speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Gradually beat in the sifting sugar mixture until everything is well-combined. In a separate bowl, combine the heavy cream and beat until the frosting is well-blended and spreading consistency
  • Step 7: Arrange the base cake layer on a large serving dish for presentation. Apply a thin layer of frosting on the top of the cake. Place the top cake layer on top of the base so that the holes are aligned with the holes in the base. Cut a hole in the center of the cakes with a knife so that it is large enough to accommodate a tall glass or mason jar of liquid. Remove the top of the volcano with a serrated knife to form a ″rim″ around it.
  • Step 8Apply frosting evenly to the top and sides of the stacked cake. Cake trimmings should be arranged like ″lava rocks″ around the base of the cake. Refrigerate until the frosting has hardened.
  • Step 9Place aluminum foil on a baking pan and set aside.
  • Then, in a small saucepan, heat the white sugar, light corn syrup, and 1/4 cup water until the sugar is completely dissolved. Boil until the syrup reaches 310 degrees Fahrenheit (155 degrees Celsius) or until a little quantity of syrup poured into cold water forms hard, brittle threads, depending on how hot you want it. Add 2 drops of red food coloring and cinnamon flavour after removing the pan from the heat.
  • Step 11Pour gently poured streams of crimson syrup onto the parchment-lined baking sheet to produce candy ″lava.″ Allow for roughly 5 minutes of cooling time before serving. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and use it to decorate the edges and top of the frosted cake
  • Using a small saucepan over low heat, simmer and stir until the marshmallow cream is melted and uniformly colored, 3 to 5 minutes
  • remove from heat and whisk in the yellow food coloring.
  • Step 13Inside the frosted cake, place a glass or a mason jar filled with frosting. Add a little quantity of dry ice, marshmallow lava, and the remaining 1/4 cup water until everything is well-mixed. A ″smoke″ effect will be created by the application of dry ice, which will force marshmallow lava to bubble over the edge of the cake.

Cook’s Note:

The higher the temperature of the water in step 13 is, the more the cake will appear to ″erupt.″

Editor’s Notes:

  1. The methods for creating the cakes are specific to the brand of cake that has been provided.
  2. If you’re using a different brand, make sure to read the instructions on the package.
  3. When working with dry ice, exercise care.
  4. Wearing protective fabric or leather gloves whenever you come into contact with it is recommended.

Contact over an extended period of time can result in an injury akin to a burn.

Working Erupting Volcano Cake – HowToCookThat: Cakes, Dessert &.

My goal for today is to create a functioning volcano cake that will erupt. I had a notion in my brain for a set up that might be able to make this work; watch the video to see how it came out in practice.

To make this erupting volcano cake you will need:

Syringe tube, empty soda bottle, dry ice, cake board, aluminum foil to cover the board 200mL (6.76 fluid ounces) 200mL (6.76 fluid ounces)

Vanilla Cake:

  1. Make the quantity listed below twice (unless you have a large commercial mixer in which case you may make it all at once).
  2. However, if you’re like me and have a standard-sized mixer, it won’t fit all of it in the bowl).
  3. plain or all-purpose flour (450g/15.87 ounces) or 2 3/4 cups (450g/15.87 ounces) 2 1/2 tsp baking powder (optional) 620g (21.87 ounces) sugar (about 2 3/4 cups) 1 teaspoon salt (225g (7.94 ounces) or 1 cup butter or margarine (depending on the size of the pan) 1-and-a-half teaspoons of vanilla extract A serving size of 250g (8.82 ounces) or 7 egg whites (you can use the egg yolks in ice-cream or chocolate cremeux) the equivalent of 340g (11.99 ounces) or 1 1/3 cups milk Approximately 30g (1.06 ounces) or 3 tablespoons of olive oil In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and butter until the mixture resembles wet sand, about 2 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the vanilla, egg whites, milk, and oil until well combined and smooth.

Then, using a whisk, incorporate one-third of this mixture into the flour mixture until it forms a paste.Whisk the remaining milk mixture for 5 minutes on high speed after adding it to the bowl.Pour the majority of it into two 8-inch round cake pans and color the leftover portion with orange or red food coloring before drizzling it over the top of the baked goods.Make a little swirl in the batter, then bake at 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit) for 20 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

It will take around 40 minutes.Bake half of the second batch in an 8-inch cake tin, and the other half in a circular oven-proof dish, using the same procedure as the first.

Frosting & Decoration:

Vanilla buttercream made in two batches (see recipe). I made a double batch of chocolate buttercream and tinted it with a little black food coloring to make it look a little more dirt-like. Green food coloring and one-third packet of plain biscuits, such as excellent biscuits or graham crackers

Caramel Lava

  1. 3 quarts of sugar 1 cup (around 250 mL) (8.45 fluid ounces) water 2 tablespoons (40g or 1.41 ounces) granulated glucose 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar (also known as tartaric acid) 159 g (5.61 ounces) or 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream food coloring in the color orange In a saucepan, heat the sugar, glucose syrup, water, and cream of tartar, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Wash down the edges of the pan with a damp pastry brush to remove any sugar crystals that may have formed on them.
  3. Heat on a high heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches 135 degrees Celsius (275 degrees Fahrenheit) or forms semi-firm strands when sprinkled with water (see video).
  4. Then, cook the mixture without stirring for another 10 minutes, or until it reaches 110 degrees Celsius (230 degrees Fahrenheit) or has a thick consistency when dropped into a cup of hot water.

Pour into a heatproof dish, color with food coloring if desired (stir until just combined; do not over-stir or it will encourage crystallization), and set aside until totally cold.Tip: To clean your pan, just fill it to the brim with warm water and set it in the sink for several hours, during which time the sugar will completely dissolve.

OR Ganache Lava

  1. Squares of 300g (10.58 ounces) white chocolate, split into pieces Cream, warmed in the microwave for 120mL (4.06 fluid ounces) or 1/2 cup, is used.
  2. Bring the chocolate to a boil until it is melted.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed cream.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before serving.

Putting this in the refrigerator will make the texture overly stiff. If this occurs, simply microwave a few spoonfuls of the mixture and then stir it into the remainder of the mixture.

  • The following ingredients: 300g softened butter
  • 350g caster sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 300g self-raising flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • red paste food coloring.
  • 100 g apricot glaze or warmed sieved apricot jam
  • 500 g marzipan
  • 200 g unsweetened chocolate
  • Approximately 250g of varied chocolate honeycomb pieces, chocolate raisins, Maltesers, caramel popcorn, and other confections for decorating, as well as toy dinosaurs, cake sparklers or fountains, and other confections for decorating

  • STEP 1: Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (160 degrees Celsius fan/gas mark 1). 4. Grease and line an 18cm round cake tin with baking paper, as well as an 800–900ml oven proof (Pyrex) dish and a 1.2 litre oven proof bowl with baking paper
  • IN A LARGE BOWL, combine the butter, 300g of the sugar, the eggs, the flour, and the milk and beat thoroughly to make a light and creamy mixture. Spread little less than half of the mixture in the cake pan
  • STEP 3Scoop off slightly under half of the leftover mixture and place it in a dish, coloring it a deep crimson color with food coloring. Place 3–4 small spoonfuls of red cake mix on top of the mixture in the cake tin and bake for 35–40 minutes. Pull the red mixture through the white mixture using the handle of a teaspoon to create a marbled look.
  • STEP 4 Using the leftover plain and red cake mix, drop spoonfuls into the two prepared mixing bowls in a random method to create a marbled effect. Use the teaspoon handle to create a marbled appearance once again.
  • In the oven, bake for around 30–40 minutes for the little bowl, approximately 35–50 minuted for the larger bowl, and approximately 50–60 minutes for the cake tin. When the mixture is solid to the touch and when a skewer put into the center comes out clean, it is ready to be served.
  • STEP 6After the cakes have been allowed to cool completely, cut away any peaks that have developed. Place the spherical cake on a wide cake board and let it cool completely. In order to create an irregular shape for the volcano foundation, cut three little ‘v’ shapes along one of the cake’s edges. Spread a little amount of apricot glaze over over the cake and then set the bigger bowl cake on top, rounded side up, and bake for another 30 minutes. Apply apricot glaze to the top of the remaining cake and set the rounded side of the cake on top. The top of this cake should have a little depression cut out of it to symbolize the ″mouth″ of the volcano, and then the cake should be brushed with apricot glaze.
  • STEP 7To cover the cake, roll out the marzipan into a broad circle and smooth it over the top. It might take on a sloppy appearance. Using your hands, lift it onto the cake and drape it randomly in the nooks and crevices to create the form of a volcano
  • STEP 8Melt the chocolate either in the microwave or in a heatproof dish set over a pan of simmering water. Chocolate should be painted onto the volcano with a pastry brush. Melted chocolate may be used to attach bits of chocolate, popcorn, and other goodies. Toss in some dinosaurs. In a random method, drizzle any remaining chocolate over the volcano
  • TO MAKE THE LAVA, put the remaining 50g sugar in a small nonstick frying pan and heat it up until it is hot. Continue to cook on a low heat without stirring until the sugar has dissolved but the liquid is still clear. Prepare a metal baking sheet by lightly oiling it. Remove the pan from the heat when the sugar is just beginning to turn light brown around the edges, and gently whisk in a few drops of red paste food coloring. Using a teaspoon, drizzle lava forms onto the baking sheet that has been prepared. Allow to cool completely before using.
  • STEP 10: When the lava forms are cool, carefully remove them out of the volcano and set them on top of it. Use birthday candles, cake sparklers, or cake fountains to add a special touch to your cake.

If possible, make the lava forms and utilize them the day before serving because they get slightly sticky after a short period of time.

How To Make A Volcano Cake (And Watch It Erupt!)

  1. Easy cake ideas for kids don’t get much cooler than this volcano cake, whether you’re throwing a Jurassic Park-themed birthday party or just want to amaze your tiny visitors.
  2. However, while baking powder or baking soda coupled with vinegar can produce a spectacular eruption, they will not significantly improve the flavor of your cake.
  3. Fortunately, there is an alternate volcano cake recipe that is just as delicious as it appears..
  4. In spite of the fact that it is a show stopper, this dish is surprisingly simple to prepare and does not require the purchase of any special cake pans.

The secret is contained within the hidden bottle in the center, which you will use to ignite your eruption once you have discovered it.You won’t even need to bake this recipe as a test run; instead, you can simply mix the Coca-Cola and Mentos in a bottle to see how well it works before proceeding. When you’re certain of the proportions you’ll need, you may modify the recipe to make the cake of the appropriate size for your needs. We’ve chosen a simple vanilla sponge recipe, but it will work just as well with chocolate sponge recipes as it will with vanilla sponge.

If this bake isn’t resonating with your picky eaters, why not try one of our other recipes?A sports cake for teenagers, or a Mickey Mouse cake for Disney aficionados, would be a good idea.

  1. The ingredients for the cake are as follows: 300g melted butter, 300g caster sugar, six big eggs, 300g self-raising flour, two tablespoons milk, red paste food coloring.
  2. To make the Topping, combine 500g marzipan, 200g dark chocolate, 250g chocolate candies for decorating, and 400g red buttercream in a large mixing bowl.
  3. For the Lava, you’ll need a large Coca-Cola bottle, a bag of fruit Mentos, and red food coloring.
  4. Equipment required: a small empty soft drink bottle, a cake board, sparklers, an 18cm round cake tin, and an 800-900ml oven-safe dish.

  1. 1) Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (160 degrees Celsius fan) or gas mark 5.
  2. 4.
  3. Grease and line the baking pan as well as the oven-proof bowl.
  4. 2) Beat together the butter, sugar, eggs, flour, and milk in a large mixing bowl for several minutes, or until the mixture is light and creamy.

3) Spoon about 450ml of this mixture into your prepared baking tray in heaping spoonfuls.4) Take another 450ml of this mixture and toss in the red food coloring until thoroughly combined.Dot the red mixture into the tin amongst the white cake mix, using approximately one-third of the red mixture.Swirl the colors together using the end of a spoon to make them more vibrant.

Then, using the spoon end, swirl the remaining red and white batter into the oven-proof bowl to create a marble effect.6) Place the cakes in the oven for 15 minutes. The bowl cake should take around 40-45 minutes, while the cake tin should take approximately 30-40 minutes.Check to see whether the cakes are done by inserting a skewer and making sure it comes out completely clean.Remove the pan from the heat and set it aside to cool.

  • 7) Using a sharp knife, gently cut a hole in the cake in the pan that is large enough to accommodate the small drinks bottle.
  • Slice the bowl cake in half horizontally and cut a bottle shape out of each side to use as a mold for the bottle.
  • Make a pile of the off cuttings and set them aside.

8) Place your circular cake on a cake stand or a board.Distribute the buttercream on top, and then place the bigger half of the bowl cake on top, making sure the holes are aligned. Then, using the last sponge, build up the ridge of the handmade volcano by spreading it with additional buttercream and adding it on top.Insert your little bottle without the lid slowly and carefully.9) Using the buttercream and the sponge offcuts, create a form to conceal the water bottle, being sure to leave enough room for access to the top.Buttercream should be used to cover the volcano cakes.

To make a huge circle of marzipan, roll it out into a large circle large enough to cover the entire cake.Carefully pull it on and drape it loosely over your body.It is not necessary for it to be flawless, since this will aid in the replication of the irregular forms found in volcanoes.11) Melt the chocolate and use a pastry brush to paint the melted chocolate over the cookie sheet, if desired.Add the chocolate candies to give the completed bake a rocky appearance, then continue to cover the entire thing with chocolate until it is completely covered.

To make the explosion, combine 350ml of Coca-Cola with a pinch of red food coloring in a mixing bowl.Pour the liquid into the concealed bottle using a funnel.Make a paper tube and insert it into the top of the bottle to start the explosion and allow the lava to pour out of it.To create a magnificent bursting cake effect, drop in all five Mentos at the same time.

Tips And Alternatives

  1. Even though fruit Mentos are suitable for vegetarians, gluten-free eaters, and those who are allergic to nuts, they are not appropriate for vegans.
  2. For really young children, you may omit the explosion portion entirely and instead make a volcano cake topper out of lava instead.
  3. Follow the directions in the recipe above, but don’t worry about cutting a hole for a concealed bottle.
  4. While an alternative, slice a small crater in the center of your cake and fill it with red lace candies, then let them to cascade down the sides of your cake as it bakes.

As with previous recipes, you can simply substitute gluten-free products in place of the regular components.

Good To Know

  1. Add cake sparklers or fountains for an even more flamboyant impact.
  2. To coordinate the lighting of candles and the dropping of Mentos, you will require an additional set of responsible hands, so make sure you have an adult with you when doing these more risky tasks..
  3. It is better to leave the last step to the adults and instruct children to stand back while the volcano is in full eruption mode.
  4. While tiny hands will have a blast helping you build this chocolate volcano recipe, it is best to leave the final step to the adults.

This recipe may be prepared a day ahead of time, but keep in mind that you’ll need a large cake box to preserve it at room temperature.Avoid adding the Coca-Cola to the bottle until just before you want it to burst in order to prevent any fizz from escaping. This cake should be able to feed around 12-15 people.Alternatively, any leftover cake can be double wrapped in aluminum foil and cling film and frozen for up to two months.

Exploding Volcano Cake Recipe

For the Cake

  • The following ingredients: 300g very soft butter
  • 300g caster sugar
  • 6 big eggs
  • 300g self-raising flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • red paste food coloring
  • 500 grams of marzipan
  • Icing sugar, to be used as a dusting before rolling out marzipan
  • A total of 200g dark chocolate
  • about 250g varied chocolate decorations (Maltesers, Crunchie nibbles, chocolate-covered raisins)
  • 400g red buttercream
  • sparklers for decorating

For the Explosion

  • 1. a package of Mentos
  • 2.
  • Diet coke in a large bottle
  • The addition of a drop or two of red food coloring
  • A little Evian bottle (which has been emptied)

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius/160 degrees Celsius fan/gas 4.
  2. Clean, grease, and line an 18cm round cake tin and a Pyrex basin that holds 800–900ml of liquid.
  3. To make the frosting, place the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and whisk well until they are light and creamy.
  4. Add around 500g cake mix in heaping spoonfuls to the cake tin, then take approximately 500g cake mix and stain it a brilliant red in a mixing dish.
  5. Placing 175g red cake mix in a circular pattern around the cake tin and mixing through with the end of a spoon to marble the cake
  6. Swirl the remaining white and red batters together in the bowl to create a marble effect.
  7. 30-40 minutes for the cake pan and 40-45 minutes for the bowl in the oven are recommended. When the batter is firm to the touch and when a skewer put into the center comes out clean, it is done baking.
  8. Cut away any peaks that have developed after the cakes have been allowed to cool.
  9. Make a hole in the cake tin sponge with a knife so that the bottle may fit through it.
  10. If you want to make a bowl shape, cut this in half horizontally and then cut a hole in both sections to accommodate the bottle. We used a little Evian 330ml bottle, but any small bottle would do as long as it is compact.
  11. Using a 7″ round cake card and a second large cake board, place the round cake on top of the first.
  12. Spread some buttercream on top of the cake, using a little more to stick the sponge off-cuts around the cake against the base.
  13. Next, add the larger portion of bowl sponge and sandwich onto the buttercream.
  14. Spread over some more buttercream.
  15. Lastly, place the hump portion of the bowl cake on top, rounded side up.
  16. Build up the cake to meet the top of the bottle, using buttercream to hold it all together, and then go over the entire form with the remaining buttercream to seal it and make it sticky for the marzipan to adhere to.
  17. Roll out the marzipan into a big circle to cover the top and sides of the cake — it can be rather a sloppy shape at this point.
  18. Invert the cake onto a serving plate, then drape it randomly across the surface to create the shape of an active volcano.
  19. Melt the chocolate either in the microwave or in a heatproof dish set over a pan of simmering water.
  20. Chocolate should be painted onto the volcano with a pastry brush.
  21. Attach bits of chocolate and sweets together to create a rough impression on the cake. Pour any remaining chocolate over the volcano and set it aside.
  22. It is now time for the explosion to occur.
  23. Add 330ml of diet coke to a jug and stir with a splash of red food coloring until well combined.
  24. Pour the coke into the concealed bottle with with care, using a funnel if necessary.
  25. Prepare five mentos and roll up a piece of paper to form a little tube so that you can put them all in at the same time.
  26. When you’re ready, put the mentos in the bottle and watch as the frothy lave bubbles up and drips onto the cake.
  27. Use birthday candles, cake sparklers, or cake fountains to add a special touch to your cake.

In This Story: Volcano

In geology, a volcano is a crack in the crust of a planetary-mass object such as the Earth that permits hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber beneath the surface of the planet. Volcanoes are most often found on Earth when tectonic plates are diverging or converging, and the majority of them are located underwater.

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees for at least 15 minutes with a sheet pan in the centre.
  • In a mixing bowl set on top of a saucepan of boiling water, combine the butter and chocolate until smooth. If you haven’t worked with chocolate before, be extremely careful not to burn the mixture when melting it. Always avoid melting chocolate directly over a hot frying surface.
  • Heat the chocolate mixture until it has completely melted, then leave it aside to cool slightly.
  • Stirring constantly with a hand mixer on medium-high speed for approximately 5 minutes, or until the mixture is thick and a light yellow color, will take around 5 minutes total.
  • On a low speed, slowly add the flour, followed by the chocolate/butter combination
  • mix until smooth.
  • Butter the six ramekins (each 6-8 ounces) and lightly sprinkle with chocolate powder. Remove any extra chocolate by tapping it out, but make sure they are thoroughly covered.
  • Fill the ramekins approximately 7/8 of the way full with the Volcano batter
  • Spread out on a sheet tray that has been preheated and bake for 15-18 minutes. When the cake is finished, the consistency should be such that the corners of the cake are firm but the top is still soft to the touch. Unfortunately, there is a very fine line between undercooked and overcooked when it comes to this dish.
  • Remove the dish from the oven and set it aside for 3 to 5 minutes on a cold surface.
  • To release the cake from the ramekin, run a paring knife between the two. Invert your dessert plate over the ramekin (with caution, as they are quite hot) and flip it over again. Lightly tap the dish on the counter to release the ramekin. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Prepare the garnishes (raspberries and strawberries) before serving. If the cake runs all over the plate, the cooking time should be increased. Reduce the cooking time if the cake is hard and does not ooze chocolate when it is done. If the cake does not come out, make sure it is well buttered and dusted with cocoa before attempting again.

″It’s very opulent and hevanly! The dessert is served in a fancy restaurant and has a gooey chocolate center that exudes chocolaty delight.″

  2. As dissolved gases are unable to escape as readily as they formerly did, pressure can rise to the point that rock and lava fragments are hurled into the air by gas explosions.
  3. Because the lava flow has become considerably thicker and sticky, downhill flows are not as straightforward to navigate as they once were.
