Using your fingers, create the sound of rain falling: ″Down came the rain and swept the spider away.″ ″Out came the sun, and it dried up all the rain,″ you say as you raise your hands and arms into a sun shape. Let’s get back to spider fingers: ″And the itsy-bitsy spider crawled up the spout once more.″
    • To cover your face behind you hands and then come out from behind them while exclaiming ″Peek-a-boo!″ there is no wrong method to go about it. For the same effect, you may place your baby’s hands over your face or leap from behind a chair or door frame and yell ″Boo!″ or ″This Little Piggy″ several times. When you tell this lovely story, gently squeeze your baby’s toes, starting with her big toe and working your way down the row to her baby toe, saying: ″This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed at home.″ There was no roast beef for this little piggy, but there was roast beef for this little piggy. That wee wee wee was heard all the way home by this tiny piggie.″ After the last toe, race your fingers from her foot up her torso and up to tickle her chin, saying, ″Pop! Goes the Weasel!″ after each one. A version of this iconic melody is frequently heard when you turn the handle of a Jack-in-the-Box toy to the right. ″The Wheels on the Bus″ is a song that may be sung without the need of a springy box by turning your hands in a circle and then popping them in the air at the conclusion. What is the mechanism through which the bus’ wheels move? Yes, it’s a never-ending loop (move your hands in a circle). Following that, the passengers on the bus will travel up and down (and so does your body). Continue with the infants wailing and the driver repeating, ″Move on back,″ matching the actions to the song’s words, ″Five in the Bed,″ until the end of the song. ‘Five young ones on a too-small bed,’ says the author of this adorable story. It was a family of five on the bed, and the tiny one kept saying, ″Roll over, roll over.″ In the end, they all turned over and one was knocked out. It was a family of four on the bed, and the small one remarked.″ Continue counting until you reach the final person who says, ″Good night!″ Hold up each number with your fingers as you count down the numbers
    • turn your hands and do the same with your fingers.

    What not to worry about

    • Is there too much play?
    • There is no such thing.
    • This is especially true during the early months of babyhood, when your little one cannot get enough fun since play is how she develops — and growing is her full-time job at the moment.
    • Also unexpected is how well babies can communicate when they’ve had enough stimulation and need to be soothed.
    • Keep an eye out for your child’s visual cues: Whenever it’s necessary to take a break, she’ll suddenly look preoccupied and bored rather than interested, and she’ll either turn her head away or make a commotion.

Playing rhythmic activities with your baby, such as hand clapping and finger games like patty-cake, can help her learn about rhythm, language, and fine motor abilities. The nicest aspect about these activities, however, may be that they just require you and your kid — no special equipment is required — and that you may participate in them at any time and from any location.

If the story is given to a kid by a parent, the letters ″B″ and ″baby″ in the last two lines are commonly substituted with the child’s first initial and last name.Bob Hope and Bing Crosby employed the ″pat-a-cake″ song and clapping game in their series of ″Road″ films as a technique of distracting the audience from their actions. To make the prank work, they had to incorporate a timed punch into the clapping game routine, which allowed them to get away.

10 Classic hand-clapping games to teach your kid

Make use of these entertaining hand clapping games to put your rhythm and coordination to the test! For those of us who grew up in a world when it was commonplace to pack your child’s bag with earbuds and an iPad, it may feel like an eternity ago that hand-clapping games dominated the playground. In contrast, if you’re an old-fashioned individual who wishes to pass on the ability of hand-eye coordination to your child, look no further! Here are some timeless masterpieces that will undoubtedly pique their interest.

    1. Patty Cake

″Patty cake, patty cake, baker’s man,″ the narrator says.″Make me a cake as soon as you possibly can.″ Patty Cake is the most traditional and straightforward clapping game available. When played with two individuals, the hands are clapped in the traditional criss-cross pattern. Then you lay out the dough, flatten it down, and mark it with a B on the top (for baby). It is a game that may be enjoyed by even the smallest of children.

    2. Miss Mary Mack

Sometimes the lyrics to children’s hand-clapping games make little to no sense to them.Take, for instance, Miss Mary Mack.It generates queries such as ″Who precisely is this Miss Mary Mack?″ and ″Can you tell me more about her?″ ″How come it only costs her 50 cents to go to the zoo?″ you might wonder.Regardless, this clap game incorporates the fundamental skill gained in Patty Cake while also incorporating two additional features.

    3. The Cup Game

Before there was an Anna Kendrick song called ″Cups,″ there was a cup game to remember. However, it is a competitive game performed in a group that incorporates the same rhythm that Kendrick sings over.During the game, each individual follows the beat and passes the cup to the next player.Whenever you lose your stride during your turn, you’re out!Take a look at it in action: Learn how to play by watching this video:

    4. Sevens

Sevens is a game that, like the cup game, puts your rhythmic abilities to the test. There are a few of different rhythm patterns in this game. Once you’ve begun, the next player must keep up with your pace as you go to the next one. The most difficult aspect of the game is staying in rhythm with your teammates.

    5. Rockin’ Robin

Rockin’ Robin is a tribute to Bobby Day’s 1958 popular song of the same name, which may be performed by two to four people at a time. The rules of the game change depending on how many individuals are participating in it at the same time. It is, however, best played with four people so that you may clap over and beneath each other (as demonstrated in the video).

    6. Tick-Tack-Toe

No true rules apply in this game; it is essentially a collection of hand gestures performed for entertainment purposes. (This one brings to mind the moment from The Parent Trap where Annie (Lindsay Lohan) is bidding goodbye to her butler, Martin.)

    7. Concentration 64

In order to participate, participants must think of a name or term that is related to a certain category without repeating themselves or hesitating. Even though the number 64 has no practical significance within the context of the game, it can be a fun challenge to see if you can rattle off 64 sentences without losing your attention.

    8. Slide

Keeping track of the time while maintaining your composure is the goal of this game. As the amount of claps on the slide increases, the slide can become rather intense. See how far you can get with your child if you play this game together.

    9. Say, Say Oh Playmate

Allow this song to transport you back to those carefree days spent with sidewalk chalk, ice cream, and your best friend from school. Its innocent lyrics capture the heart of youthful camaraderie, and it has a simple clapping beat that is simple to learn as well.(Please keep in mind that this song is also known as ″Cee Cee My Playmate,″ and there are versions of it with lyrics that aren’t nearly as innocent as this.)

    10. Stella Ella Ola

The exact words to Stella Ella Ola are frequently discussed (for example, ″clap clap clap″ or ″quack quack quack″ are both acceptable choices). What we do know for certain is that it’s a pleasant and simple game that can be enjoyed by a big number of people at the same time. Thanks to the YouTube video above, here are some recommended lyrics (which will very definitely clash at least partially with your recollection), which you may use to help you out: Stella Ella Ola singing es Tiga Tiga, Tiga Tiga Shack Shack with clap clap clap is Tiga Tiga, Tiga Tiga Shack Es Tiga Tiga, Baloa Baloa, Baloa Baloa, Baloa Baloa, Baloa Baloa, Baloa Baloa 1 2 3 4 5 Lo-a-Lo 1 2 3 4 5 Continue to communicate with one another.Subscribe to Today’s Parent’s daily email to receive the latest parenting news, advice, articles, and recipes sent to your inbox.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Candy Cake

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars 05/06/2007 If it hadn’t been for the fact that I had to put the cake back in the oven to melt the morsels, this would have been a great cake. The cake had become dry, and the morsels had become unmeltable.Melt the morsels in a double boiler, then sprinkle the peanut butter on top of them. It’s much more pleasant that way.Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/2002 I prefer milk chocolate chips to semi-sweet chocolate chips.

It was too rich for my taste, so the second time I made it, I decreased the peanut butter to 3/4 cup and the chocolate chips to 1-1/2 cups.It was still delicious! It appeared to be more balanced.Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 12/30/2008 I just finished making these, and they turned out wonderful!I’ll admit that I’m one of those people who believes that you should always taste with your eyes first – thus instead of following the baking instructions, I utilized my cupcake pans to get the ideal ‘Tandy Kake’ impression.

As soon as they were done, I took them out of the pan and smeared some peanut butter on top of each cake. Then I melted the chocolate in a double boiler and distributed it evenly over the cakes, finishing by placing a large glob on top of each one.Afterwards, I quickly spread the chocolate over the cake until it reached the sides, and then ‘frosted’ the cake around the edges. If you want to utilize this approach, be cautious not to fiddle with the top too much since the heat of the chocolate melts the peanut butter, which causes it to leak into the chocolate a little bit. They were then placed in the freezer for 3 minutes to let the chocolate to ″set″ and harden.

They were OUTSTANDING in every way!Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe with us!Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/2000 Since relocating away from the Philadelphia area, I’ve missed Tastykakes, particularly the Peanut Butter Tandytakes, which were a Philly ″must-have.″ I had a recipe for this that was only a scribbled scribble.I was overjoyed when I discovered this simple to follow recipe on the internet. It was for a party that I made these, and they were a huge hit.

    • Rating: 4 out of 5 stars 05/31/2009 Tastykakes were a mainstay in my lunch box as a kid growing up in the Philadelphia region.
    • Definitely similar to my fave Tastykake of all time, and yes, the milk chocolate chips are preferable than the dark chocolate chips.
    • Rating: 1 out of 5 stars 09/10/2002 This dish did not leave a lasting impression on me.
    • If the peanut butter had been sweetened, I would have like it; nonetheless, the milk chocolate would have been preferable.
    • Allowing the chocolate to cool at room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator will also assist to prevent the chocolate from blooming.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/2012 This is incredible.Being a native Philadelphian who grew up in the city, I missed my favorite childhood delicacies when I moved away. All of that was definitely altered by this.I did, however, make some modifications.I used the same cake recipe as before, but instead of making a single cake, I created individual portions, much way the original tandycakes were served at the time.

    1. I used a regular-sized cupcake pan, but I placed 1 tablespoon of batter into each one and cooked them for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
    2. I did this several times until the batter was completely gone.
    3. I then used honey peanut butter as a substitute (to add some extra sweetness).
    4. After all of the tops had been smeared with peanut butter, they were placed in the refrigerator for about an hour.
    5. After that, I melted 2 bags of ordinary chocolate chips (one bag at a time) and dipped the cookies in them.

Lay the cakes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place them back in the fridge until the chocolate has hardened (peanut butter side down on the cakes).Repeat with the remaining cakes.Speaking about delectable, I was under the impression that I was consuming a real good cake.Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/2010 I really like how simple this dish is.Normally, I provide suggestions after completing a project, but not for this one.

    1. My daughter’s birthday cake was requested as a two-layer cake, which I fulfilled.
    2. As a result, I had to take the cake out of the pans before it was entirely cool, as the peanut butter and chocolate chips work best when they are applied to warm cake.
    3. I could need any pointers on how to do it (I did grease and flour pans).
    4. I should mention that making and serving from a 10×15 jelly roll pan makes things really simple and tasty.
    5. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/2006 As a result of the fact that Tandy Cakes are not available in Texas, this really helps to satisfy my cravings for them!
    6. Although I did not follow the instructions to put the peanut butter on first and then chill it in the refrigerator before putting on the milk chocolate layer, the result was still delicious (I use a big Hershey bar that I melt).
    1. Also, if you score the chocolate while it is still soft, it will be much simpler to cut afterwards.
    2. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 05/23/2006As a native Philadelphian, I really adore this dish.
    3. Milk chocolate and distinct layers of peanut butter and chocolate are my preferred toppings!
    4. It’s fantastic, and everyone enjoys it!
    5. Thanks!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars 10/15/2003 Not a horrible cake, but it didn’t have the same level of intrigue that I had hoped it would have.I’m feeling cheated.Rating: 1 out of 5 stars I’ve prepared this cake recipe twice in as many days, and both times the cake turned out with a consistency that was similar to that of corn bread. This is completely unacceptable.I will never make this dish again, and I strongly advise you to stay away from it at all costs.

    1. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars 12/23/2006 This dish is one of my favorites.
    2. Instead of semisweet chocolate chips, I used Hershey’s milk chocolate chips, and I spread the peanut butter and chocolate on both sides of the cookie.
    3. Everyone I meet requests that I create this for them, no matter where I travel.
    4. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 06/20/2011 This dish is very amazing!
    5. If I don’t have time to melt a large chocolate candy bar and apply it on top of the peanut butter layer before baking, I’ll just leave it in the refrigerator till the peanut butter has hardened a little.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 07/08/2008 I made them for my husband’s birthday, and he took them to work with him.He said that they didn’t last more than five minutes.Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 11/21/2010 Awesome! The flavor is identical to the Tasty Cake variant. However, a thicker chocolate covering would have been preferable.Next time, I’ll use three cups chocolate chips instead of two.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 09/25/2011Fan-Freaking- tastic My chocolate bars (which were produced in Hershey, Pennsylvania) and the choosey mother’s peanut butter were gobbled up in about three quarters of a pound total, and wow, what a delight!I hadn’t had a proper Tandy Cake in over 20 years, and these were almost precisely like the ones I remember.Keep an eye on the cake cooking time; my oven was quicker.Cut the chocolate while it is still melty and use parchement to finish.EXCELLENT!Rating: 4 out of 5 stars This turned out great, despite the fact that I baked it as a massive 4 cup flour cake.

I wasn’t sure how it would come out, but the batter ended up taste similar to angel food cake (albeit much, much thicker!).I used peanut butter to cover the cake, and instead of dark chocolate, I used melted white baker’s chocolate, which I placed in the freezer to firm after it was sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles on top. This was a resounding success!

    • Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/2006 This is a fantastic recipe.
    • Fortunately, I live in an area where Tasty cakes are readily available, but this comes in a close second to the real thing in terms of taste and texture.
    • Adding the milk first, followed by the flour, is what I recommend.
    • I made the error of adding the sugar and flour before the milk, which resulted in a batter that was too thick for my mixer to handle properly.
    1. This is something I will definitely cook again.
    2. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/2008I discovered this recipe when I was a child, and I remember having a blast cooking it with my mother.
    3. Over the years, I’d lost my ability to think clearly.
    4. I’m planning on making it tonight!
    5. I recognize it as being extremely similar to the one I used to have.

I propose melting the chocolate in order to create layers:).Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/2009Having grown up in South Jersey and now residing in South Carolina, I really adored them!Tasty Cakes are not available at this location!Thank you very much for everything!Rating: 4 out of 5 stars 09/08/2008The cake’s ingredients are exactly the same as those in the recipe I acquired from my mother’s church cookbook, which she gave me.The same may be said with the peanut butter.

To make it simpler, melt down an 8-ounce Hershey bar(which is rather close to home here) and spread it on the cake before allowing it to cool completely in the refrigerator for approximately 15-20 minutes, as suggested in my version. Now you’ll have to wait a few minutes before cutting into these, but they’re quite delicious.Rating: 4 out of 5 stars 12/15/2008I used this recipe for the cake, however I cooked it for the entire time allotted for baking.

The peanut butter was then put on top while it was still warm.Another substitution for chocolate chips was melting Hershey bars in the microwave instead of using chocolate chips.Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/2008 It was the identical family recipe that I had been looking for for several years!Simply refrigerate the mixture before adding the melted chocolate chips, and you’re good to go!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars 03/12/2007 This is a fantastic dish!It was a huge hit in our household.Milk chocolate chips were my preferred choice, and I topped the peanut butter with powdered (confectioners’) sugar to make it taste just like delicious cakes!Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/2007 This dish is fantastic! This is even better than the tastycakes we have readily available here in NE Pennsylvania!

I substitute milk chocolate chips for the semi-sweet chocolate chips, and the result is far better.Every time I make this, it is a huge hit!Rating: 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/2011I just finished making them for the first time yesterday. They have a flavor that is extremely similar to Tasty Cake’s Peanut Butter Kandy Cakes.I’m going to experiment using milk chocolate instead of semisweet the next time I make these. They’re a big hit with everyone!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Posted on August 31, 2001I didn’t measure the peanut butter or the chocolate; I simply went by how it looked. In addition, I used milk chocolate rather than semi-sweet chocolate. It was fantastic!Rating: 5 out of 5 stars The recipe was a tremendous hit when I served it to my husband for his birthday on January 31st, because he particularly loves chocolate and peanut butter together.Because of this, I decided to put the chocolate/peanut butter on the bottom of the cake and use chocolate frosting on the top, which turned out to be even better!Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 05/24/2008 I, too, grew raised in Pennsylvania.

Since moving to Vermont, I’ve missed my Tasty cakes. This recipe was fantastic, and I followed everything to the letter, except for when it came to the chocolate.I used Hersey’s milk chocolate candy bars, and after spreading the peanut butter over the cake, I just placed the candy bars on top of the hot cake and gently distributed them into the batter before placing it in the refrigerator.

    1. The cake turned out fantastic, and I thank you for the recipe.
    2. Rating: 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/2012 Everyone like it, but I felt it was a little dry, so I pulled it out of the oven earlier than I should have.
    3. Thanks for the recipe!
    4. This was not one of my favorite recipes.
    5. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/2005 My husband is a huge fan of peanut butter, so he absolutely loved this cake!
    • This is a fantastic dish!
    • Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 05/06/2000 This dish is extremely calorie-dense!
    • It is, nevertheless, quite wonderful in every way.
    • Kids adore it (I should know, because I am one myself):-) Rating: 5 out of 5 stars 04/09/2005 Perhaps you must be a native Pennsylvania
