I thought I’d put together a little video with some of the techniques and methods I’ve picked up over the years — so you don’t have to be concerned about ending up on Pintrosity yourself! Cake pops are actually quite simple to create, despite the fact that everyone claims this about their culinary creations, but it is true! INGREDIENTS: CAKE — in the flavor of your choice
    • ANY KIND OF ICING — anything you choose
    • CHOCOLATE — white, milk, dark, and peanut butter chips, among other varieties

    Cake pops are a terrific addition to your food preservation collection because they are small and portable.Alternatively, you may create your cake and frosting from scratch, and then utilize the chocolate you’ve saved!Even if all of the stores are closed, I have everything I need to prepare cake pops so that we don’t miss out on a single party throughout the year!Start storing up on party food for your home once you’ve tried your hand at creating these.

    1- BAKE A CAKE

    Make a cake in the same manner as you normally would. Whether it’s homemade or purchased in a box, leftover birthday cake or a combination of both, it doesn’t really matter!


    When the cake has cooled, crush it into extremely small pieces!My preferred method is to cut the cake into quarters and remove one piece at a time, crumbling it into a mixing dish.Try to get rid of any lumps or crusty portions (I generally eat them;)!) if possible.This is the step where a lot of folks have difficulty.In order to avoid your cake pops looking like they have warts sprouting all over them, you must maintain your cool and crumble on through the baking process.


    Following your satisfaction with your crumble work, it’s time to apply the frosting.Pour 3/4 of a 16-ounce container of frosting into a mixing bowl and stir everything together.This recipe makes a 9-inch round cake.Extra frosting should not be necessary, but if it still appears to be too dry, add a little more.Make sure to take caution when icing the cake balls because if you use too much frosting, they will slip straight off the stick.


    Form the mixture into 1 1/2-inch balls (or whatever size you like) and lay them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper to dry. A 9-by-13-inch cake will yield anywhere from 36 to 48 balls.


    Wrap the cake balls in plastic wrap and store them in the refrigerator for at least 30-60 minutes to allow them to firm up. I used to put them in the freezer, but they would become too cold and shatter after the chocolate solidified, so I stopped doing that. So, if at all possible, avoid freezing them and instead allow them to firm up in the refrigerator.


    Melt the chocolate in 30-second intervals in the microwave, stirring after each interval.Make sure not to overheat the chocolate in order to avoid it burning or becoming lumpy.You want the chocolate to be flowing and smooth when you’re finished.If you need to make it a little runnier, you may add a small amount of shortening.Reheat for another 30 seconds in the microwave if you detect the chocolate beginning to harden again.

    7- COLOR THE CHOCOLATE (optional)

    Keep the basic chocolate as is, or dye it whatever color you like! The chocolate must be colored using special candy coloring, as I’ve discovered when I’ve attempted it with regular food coloring. Color-mix and match until you reach the color you want, or at least something close to what you want! As case you couldn’t tell, I’m currently a bit enamored with the colors coral and teal.


    This is a really important phase. It’s possible that if you don’t remember to put the candy coloring away, your baby may climb up on the counter and turn herself (and the sofa) all blue! Then, when you decide to take her to the pool instead of bathing her, the lifeguard will inquire as to if you served your child a Smurf for supper;)


    • You’re now ready to begin dipping your fingers! To make the cake ball, take a stick and dip one end into the chocolate
    • then take the end that has been dipped in chocolate and insert it halfway into the ball. (Take just one or two balls from the fridge at a time, otherwise they will get too mushy and slip off the stick.)
    • Roll the cake pop in the chocolate, then use a spoon to spread the chocolate evenly over the entire cake pop
    • Once the cake pop has been completely covered with chocolate, gently tap off any extra chocolate while rotating it slowly to remove it.

    It’s important to decorate your cake pops before the chocolate solidifies.I like to place a dish under the cake pop to capture all of the remaining sprinkles so that I can reuse them again and again!Alternatively, you may allow the cake pops to set before decorating the outside with piping chocolate in whatever design you choose and adding sprinkles if desired.I very recently came across the shimmering food coloring at the shop and had to have it for myself.The pearl finish is my favorite color, and it adds a lovely finishing touch to the cake pops, which I think is lovely.In the event that your kitchen is not a complete mess after you’re through, you’ll need to go back and figure out which step you neglected to complete.

    Ensure that all of the sprinkles are adhered to everything and everyone by the time you have finished decorating these cake pops!


    Last but not least, but certainly not least! You MUST employ a security guard to keep an eye on these, or else they will begin to wander away! My 2-year-old is available for rent and would be delighted to assist you. He’s also inexpensive; as long as you offer him a cake pop, he’ll sit there and protect it for the rest of the day!

    After you’ve sprinkled a large handful of Smarties or chocolate drops on top of the cake, use a sharp knife to delicately put individual Smarties or chocolate drops over the edge of the cake to give it the appearance that they are pouring down the front and onto the cake stand.

    Attach an empty sweetie bag

    The top of the straw should be angled. Using adhesive tape, attach a brightly colored paper sweet bag to the bent part of the straw to keep it in place.

    Serve and enjoy

    Watch the expressions on your visitors’ faces as they eat the cake! Make careful to remove the straw, skewer, and bag before eating, and cut the slices into big pieces before serving.

    How to Store the Cake Pop Centers

    You can keep your cake pop centers after you have fashioned them from a mixture of baked cake and buttercream or after you have baked cake pop centers in a cake pop pan at this point.Using an airtight container, store the cake pop forms in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for up to a month after they have been prepared.When you’re ready to finish the cake pops by attaching the lollipop stick and dipping them in the molten chocolate, just remove them from the container and begin dipping them right away!When freezing the cake pop centers, place them in the refrigerator about a day before you plan to use them to allow them to defrost completely.Using frozen pops will increase the likelihood of moisture seeping through the chocolate covering as the center cools.During thawing and expansion, the chocolate may potentially fracture in the core.

    When the centers are cold from the fridge, it is best to dip them in the chocolate since they will not lose their shape in the heated chocolate and the chocolate will also solidify immediately on the cool pops.So, put the pop centers in the freezer for up to a month to ensure they stay fresh, then transfer them to the refrigerator the day before you want to dip them in the sauce.

    How to Store Dipped Cake Pops

    Whether you’ve already completed your cake pops by dipping them in chocolate or candy melts and decorating them exactly as you imagined, you’ll be able to keep them successfully for many days.Using a paper towel to line the bottom of an airtight container is the best method to preserve pre-made cake pops for the longest period of time.Place the cake pops on top of the paper towel in a single layer, cover with plastic wrap, and keep in the refrigerator for five to seven days.Remove them from the refrigerator about an hour or two before you want to serve them to allow them to come to room temperature (cake tastes best when served warm!).

    Storing Cake Pops at Room Temperature

    After you have completed your cake pops, dipping and decorating them to your heart’s content, you can simply store them at room temperature for 1-2 days.When cake pops are stored at room temperature, they will really look the nicest (since there will be no danger of condensation collecting on the chocolate).Make sure to keep the chocolate-dipped cake pops away from direct sunshine or extreme heat, as the chocolate may melt.If you intend to keep your cake pops at room temperature, be sure that the flavor you chose is compatible with this method of storage.Typical tastes such as vanilla and chocolate, for example, are excellent for storage at room temperature.However, if any of the ingredients in the pop require refrigeration (for example, a cake pop prepared with lemon curd), you should not store the pop at room temperature and instead follow the directions above for storing cake pops in the refrigerator.

    How to Prevent Cake Pops from Cracking

    After you have dipped the cake pops and have a wonderful final product, you should avoid storing them in the freezer for long periods of time.As a result of the freezing process, the cake center will shrink, and the pop will expand when brought back to room temperature, causing the candy coating on the outside of the cake to fracture.Furthermore, the moisture from the frozen cake will most likely cause the chocolate pop to become wet, resulting in the ruined appearance of your exquisite pop.After the cake pops have been dipped, avoid storing them in the freezer and instead keep them in the refrigerator or at room temperature.If you want to make excellent cake pops for your next large party or event, you don’t have to wait until the last minute.You may start baking right away!

    • Hello, everyone! Hello, everyone. This is Kim from KC Bakes. Given the high volume of cake pop queries that we receive via the Cake Pop FAQ page on our Facebook page, I decided to create a list of cake pop difficulties that we all encounter and share what I’ve learned along the road. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll try my best to find out for you as soon as possible. Why are my cake pops constantly cracking? Putting the 1 cake pop enigma to rest. Generally speaking, it’s a matter of temperature – the cake balls are too cold, and the melted candy is too warm. Some bakers like to chill their cake pops in the freezer while maintaining the temperature of their chocolate in micro Crock pots or double boilers – this might result in a significant temperature differential between the two. When I create cake pops, I store my cake balls in the refrigerator and melt the candy melts according to the microwave directions on the bag. Sometimes, though, there is just no rhyme or reason to anything. What caused the air bubbles to appear on my cake pops and how did it happen? You are not alone in your feelings. For a long time, air bubbles were the most difficult thing for me to deal with. They make your cake pops seem lumpy, plus they have the potential to create an oil leak (refer to next question below). The most common source of air bubbles in chocolate is stirring it too quickly, either by employing a whipping method or by overstirring it. To mix my candy melts, I use an ordinary metal spoon and make smooth and steady strokes with it. One item that has made a significant difference in my ability to deal with this problem is the switch to CandiQuik. Their chocolate is packaged as a single block on a separate platter. Other types of chocolate discs require a lot of stirring since you have to pause the microwave every 30 seconds for a long period of time – this results in air bubbles in the melted chocolate. However, one of the things I’ve learned to like about CandiQuik is that it just takes 1-2 minutes in the microwave to prepare. Since making the move, I have not experienced any air bubble issues – not even once! What should I do if my chocolate is too thick – what should I do? The issue: excessive heating. If you’re using the microwave, make sure to follow the manufacturer’s directions and heat them in 30-second intervals rather than for a significant amount of time at once. Keep an eye on your heat settings and keep the chocolate moving to avoid hot spots if you’re using a double-boiler to make the chocolate.
    • Brand. Everyone has a favorite brand, but practically every bag of Wilton’s sugar melts that I’ve purchased has resulted in a thick, gloppy mess. I’m not sure what the problem is. Make’n Mold is a favorite of mine, and I’ve also heard wonderful things about Merken’s
    • Color as well. For whatever reason, red melts (of any brand) are often thick in consistency.
    • Brand is one of the solutions. As previously stated in the preceding enquiry, I’ve begun to make use of CandiQuik. The melting process is significantly faster, and the resulting consistency is ideal for manufacturing cake pops.
    • Oil or Crisco are both OK. Try stirring them into the thick chocolate and making sure they are well incorporated into the chocolate. It’s possible that your batch of chocolate is beyond repair, and it’s preferable to start over
    • Paramount crystals. I haven’t tried them personally, but I’ve heard great things about them from bakers who swear by them.
    • REMEMBER: Before you add anything to your chocolate, repeat these three words to yourself: less is more. It is always feasible to add more, but it is difficult to take excess from a situation. When I immerse the balls in the water, they begin to fall off the stick. However, I have tried dipping the sticks in chocolate before inserting them into the cake ball, but I am experiencing the same issue. Help! It is critical to dip the cake sticks in chocolate before inserting them into the cake ball
    • you are on the correct road if you are doing so. The most crucial step in this process is to keep the cake balls frozen
    • otherwise, they will soften and fall apart when they are dipped in the melted chocolate. When I create cake pops, I use the following procedure: Store the cake balls on tiny dessert plates (about 10 balls per dish) and place them all in the refrigerator until use.
    • Take one dish at a time out of the oven and insert the chocolate-dipped sticks into the cake balls before putting them back in.
    • When you’re ready to dip them, take them out one dish at a time and dip those ten at once.
    • By using this strategy, you can ensure that the bulk of your cake balls remain refrigerated during the dipping procedure.
    Another problem can be the size/weight of the cake ball itself.  If its particularly large, or really dense, this can cause the cake to fall off the stick as well.Why is there condensation on my cake pops?This is a common result of using frozen cake balls.  In order to make cake pops, the cake balls need to be thawed out – but sometimes it is hard to tell if they are 100% thawed before dipping them.  So as the chocolate exterior hardens, and the interior cake ball comes to room temperature, this causes the pop to ″sweat″.Condensation is also a result of refrigerated finished pops.  Whenever someone picks up cake pops from me, I advise them to store them at room temperature, usually on their kitchen counter.  Note: I live in New Jersey, so I’m not sure how areas with more extreme weather conditions handle this issue.Why are my cake pops leaking oil?With my air bubble issues that I mentioned above, I also had the worst time with leaking pops.  When chocolate hardens, it contracts.  So, if there are air bubbles on the surface of your cake pop, they will break open when the chocolate dries, creating small holes & exposing your cake ball underneath.  Even if its a tiny pin-hole, oil will still be able to seep out of it.  To fix this, dry off your finished cake pop and use melted chocolate to ″plug″ the hole.Cake pops also leak oil if the cake itself is particularly wet.  This can be a result of adding too much frosting, or by using a really dense cake recipes that call for a lot of eggs or oil (chocolate cake seems to give me the worst leaking problems).Have you seen the commercials for cake pop cake pans?  Do they work? I’ll fully admit I’m a bit of a cake-pop-snob when it comes to these pans/makers.  They simply create dry balls of cake – there is no frosting involved in the process, so I’m not sure how they stay on the stick in the commercials (TV magic?).  A friend made ″cake pops″ using one of these makers, and to be perfectly honest, it tasted like a stale donut-hole. it was dry in the center, and the chocolate exterior made it tough to eat because there was zero moisture.  Just my humble opinion here – some people love them.     How to Make Smooth Cake Pops: An Easy Tutorial

    Cake pops are, without a question, entertaining.However, while eating these bite-sized cakes on a stick might be a lot of fun, creating them can be a lot of work, especially if the super-sweet morsels slide off the stick, split, leak, or are merely lumpy in the first place.We’re here to inform you that there is a solution to all of your cake pop disasters, and it all begins with a lovely, smooth finish.We’ll show you how to do it.

    Smooth, Shiny Cake Pops

    Level: Easy

    What You Need

    1. Dough for cake pops
    2. Candy melts made of dark or white chocolate
    3. A bowl that can be heated in the microwave
    4. A spatula made of silicone or plastic
    5. A piece of styrofoam for drying the popsicle sticks
    6. Sticks for lollipop making


    1. Form the Pops

    To ensure that all of the cake pops are the same size, shape the cakes using an ice cream scoop before baking.As soon as you’ve scooped them all out, roll each one between your palms to bind the crumbs together and smooth out the top of the cake.To ensure that the balls don’t fall apart during the dipping procedure, place them in the refrigerated for at least an hour before dipping.Alternatively, you may store them in the refrigerator overnight.

    2. Smooth ‘Em

    As soon as your cake pops are sufficiently cold, remove them from the refrigerator and roll them between your hands once more to form each one into a tighter ball. Repeat this process for all of your cake pops. Shape your hearts or other shapes now, before you place the sticks into your cake.

    3. Stick ‘Em

    Put the cake pops back in the fridge for a few minutes once you’ve finished shaping them so that you may finish making the coating while you do so. Remove the pops from the freezer approximately 10 minutes before you plan to dip them in chocolate to ensure that they do not crack or come apart after the chocolate coating has dried.

    4. Melt the Coating

    1. The uniformity of the coating is the most crucial factor in achieving a smooth finish on cake pops, and one of the simplest methods to ensure this is by melting candy melts correctly. Candy melts are extremely susceptible to being overheated. When they become too heated, they clump together (which is not desirable) and become difficult to remove from the spatula. While melting the melts, keep the following points in mind. When using the microwave, don’t use more than 50% of the power. The chocolate should be heated in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval.
    2. If your candy melts melt and then get hard again, they’re too hot to work with anymore. Allow them to sit for a few minutes before continuing. As they cool down, they will become runny.
    3. Incorporating a little spoonful of shortening can help thin out the candy melts, increasing the likelihood of achieving the desired consistency.

    5. Dip, Dip, Dip

    It is time to start dipping cake pops into the melts once the chocolate has flowed smoothly off your spatula and is not clumping.Each cake pop should be dipped into the melted chocolate, lifted up, turned, and dipped again until the entire surface is covered with chocolate.While the cake pop is upside down, gently shake off any extra coating from the top of the cake pop.Turn the cake pop right side up and gently shake it while twisting it between your fingers after you’ve shook off the last drop of excess chocolate.This aids in the uniform distribution of the coating.

    6. Let Them Dry

    As soon as you’re finished, place the pop on a piece of Styrofoam to dry. Use an egg carton flipped upside down for a more environmentally responsible alternative. Once they’ve completed drying, you’ll be able to decorate your cake pops, which will be lot easier to do now that your cake pops have become so smooth and uniform. Have a good time!

    That is, if you’re talking about very gorgeous candy-themed cake pops.If you haven’t tried creating cake pops before, here are some simple guidelines to get you started.Because the cake is blended with icing and entirely enrobed in candy coating, they will remain fresh and delicious for several days after they are baked and decorated.

    • To transform plain round cake pops into hard candy, simply draw swirls and pinwheel motifs on the covering with edible-ink writing pens to create the illusion of hard candy.
    • In order for you to see where I’m heading, I’ve added a little more color to the pops, but the main point is that sketching on the pops will assist you enormously with the following phase.
    • Fill the sketched shape with a thin layer of corn syrup painted with a little brush; sprinkle colored sanding sugar on top and it will adhere to the shape like glue.
    1. If the sanding sugar starts to stray from the lines you’ve made, you can simply force it back into place using a toothpick or your fingers.
    2. The sanding sugar effect is one of my favorites since it gives the pops a shiny and sweet appearance.
    3. It’s really cool!
    4. You may also use a toothpick to put candy coating over the sketched form before adding the sanding sugar, although this sometimes result in a little more bulk, and I prefer it when the pattern is a little flatter.
    5. Remember to work over a bowl while applying the sanding sugar so that any that does not adhere may be collected and reused later on in the process.

    And there you have it!The most adorable candy cake pops ever.Oh, wait…this isn’t the cutest one yet.Fold the treat bag in half and cut a small opening out of the middle or side of the bag, rather than utilizing the treat bag as it was meant to be used.The pop should be inserted through the aperture, stick first, then through the bag.

    Use twist ties (cut into 1 1/2-inch portions) to secure the cake pops on each side once they have been assembled.Okay, now they’re the cutest thing on the planet.The use of adorable small treat bags really seals the deal and gives the impression that these cake pops are sweets.And here’s how I package them for you.Even though there may be a more efficient method, this method has worked for me every time I’ve mailed them in the past.Everything is tucked away and ready to go.

    I make cake pops with 6-inch sticks and 1 lb.candy boxes (which are approximately 7″ x 3.25″ x 1.7
