Let’s get this party started, shall we?Make your cake from scratch.To make this cake, I used my Dark Chocolate Cake, which I initially combined with my Peanut Butter Buttercream (which is still my husband’s favorite cake to this day, no kidding).To make this cake, I cooked three 6′′ cake circles and then split them in half, resulting in six slender rounds that I would put together.

For at least a few hours, place the container in the freezer.You want them to be rock-solid!Make your buttercream a different color.I made one batch of my Vanilla Bean Buttercream and it was delicious (but used vanilla instead of vanilla bean paste).
- For the purpose of tinting the buttercream different colors, I divided the quantity of buttercream into many little bowls (tupperware works great for this).
- It is usually advisable to use Wilton gel colors or Americolor gel colors since I believe that they can generate very nice colors without the need to use a lot of coloring (at least in my experience).

- As soon as you start going too bright in the color you’re attempting to create, it’s difficult to go reverse, so take it slow, add a tiny amount at a time, and stop when you’re almost finished.

This time around, I used the colors pink, orange, yellow, green, and blue.I didn’t include purple since, well, there are only 6 cake layers and only place for 5 fillings.Take note of the fact that you will only need enough colored buttercream to fill the cake layers; thus, you should save aside some to use for the crumb coating and final coat before sprinkling on the sprinkles.Cake should be frosted and stacked on a cardboard circle (6′′ cardboard affixed to an 8′′ cardboard round) before serving.I used a different color for each cake tier (filling).

- 1 Melt 1 13 cup (200 g) of candy melts in a small saucepan over a medium heat until completely melted. Make careful to whisk the mixture often in order to prevent it from becoming burned. 3 Spread the mixture onto the fondant as fast as possible with an offset spatula.Make a uniform, thin layer around the sides of the cake, as shown in the photo.Due to the fact that the candy melts will solidify after 8 minutes of application, you must ice the fondant as fast as possible to guarantee that the sprinkles will adhere to the fondant.
- If you plan to decorate the top of the cake with sprinkles, make sure to distribute the mixture all the way around the top of the cake.
- 4 The sprinkles should be pressed into place around the outside of the cake using your hand.
