They’re back! Hostess brings back classic Suzy Q’s after fans complain

  • Those who enjoy premade snack cakes have yet more cause to rejoice this holiday season.
  • The original Suzy Q’s cake has been retired (and then reintroduced for a brief but failed stay a few years ago), but the snack is returning, and according to Hostess, the cake will retain the same iconic taste that die-hard fans remember from the 1960s.
  • The legendary cake was first introduced in 1961, but it was discontinued between 2012 and 2013 — along with all other Hostess confections — after the firm declared bankruptcy.

A slimmer version of the chocolate and cream cake sandwich, which was treasured by many for being over-stuffed with filling that flowed across the wrapper, was introduced in March 2016 — meaning Hostess used less cream — and fans were outraged. On Amazon, the cake got a deluge of negative feedback, with many customers giving it a single star.In the words of one customer, ″I believe I managed to eat three while trying to psych myself up since I wasted $3.79.″ Then I just accepted my disappointment and dumped the remainder of the materials into the garbage. It’s simply not worth it.

Simply wetting my finger and dipping it into some sugar would suffice if I only want something ″sweet.″ ″For those of us who are familiar with the flavor of an original Suzy Q, this is a long cry from what we are used to.″ ″I remember the original Suzy Q’s from when I was a youngster, there was so much cream in the center with a really dark rich cake,″ wrote another. In no way can they be compared to the original. It was with great excitement that I discovered them at my local Walmart. However, when I opened the box, I discovered that they did not look or taste anything like the original cakes.Never believe what you see on the outside.″ On Twitter, Hostess sought to reassure dissatisfied customers who had complained that the cakes were ″sub-par″ and ″just plain terrible,″ by informing the public that a new Suzy Q’s location was in the works.

This week, the firm stated that the previously re-released item has finally made its way onto the market. So far, it looks like Hostess is regaining the trust of chocolate connoisseurs all around the world. It is promised that the latest Suzy Q’s will be ″deliciously messy,″ with 50 percent more filling and 50 percent more cake than the previous year’s offering.

  • Soft round edges will be used to ″closely approximate″ the original in an effort to make it look more ″authentic.″ Hostess Brands chief marketing officer Burke Raine stated in a release that Suzy Q’s followers are ″among our most devoted consumers,″ adding that they have ″spoken loud and clear.″ ‘We listened to their criticism on social media and through our Consumer Affairs division, and we’ve responded by developing an even better snack cake that lives up to their expectations.’ Only time will tell if the Suzy Q’s of 2018 will be able to live up to their predecessors.

On April 23, 2016, a review was published in the United States.I did not purchase them from Amazon, but rather from Food Lion, where I purchased an eight-pack of Hostess Brand cookies.it’s the same product This is the perfect opportunity to scream about something completely unrelated. In the first place, these cakes are not the same as the original Suzy Q snacks.

The original cakes were made of ″dark″ chocolate and had a luscious, creamy, fully filled layer of cream filling that spilled out of every crevice on the outside.Second, the cakes were significantly bigger. The cake itself was moist, despite the fact that it had a thicker layer of cake on top.And last but not least, THE FLAVOR!The original had a fantastic flavor, especially if you’re a fan of chocolate like myself.

Snack cake that is one of a kind and delicious. This is a complete and utter joke.THIS IS NOT A CRAZY QUESTION.

  • THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINAL.
  • THIS IS SIMPLY A SWEET ″MILK″ CHOCOLATE SPONGE CAKE WITH A MILK CHOCOLATE FLAVOR.
  • In other words, if all you want to do is fill your face with something delicious, then go ahead and purchase that shite.
  • However, if you are seeking for the original Suzy Q, whom Hostess is claiming to have ″returned,″ they are deceiving the public by promoting her as such.

Be cautious and avoid making a transaction!I think I managed to eat three of them while attempting to distract myself from the fact that I had wasted $3.79.Then I just accepted my disappointment and dumped the remainder of the materials into the garbage. It’s simply not worth it.Simply wetting my finger and dipping it into some sugar would suffice if I only want something ″sweet.″ For those of us who are familiar with the flavor of an original Suzy Q, this is a long cry from that experience.

  • Hostess should be ashamed of itself for taking advantage of the public’s confidence and ripping off folks who support the brand as well as others who are unfamiliar with the original flavor.
  • The organization must maintain a certain level of integrity.
  • Maintain the original formula, and if the economics is a concern, boost the price by a little amount while remaining faithful to the brand.
  • Hostess has compromised more than just the goods in this situation.
  • They have lost the backing of a large number of former clients.
  • I’m curious if the corporation, like Nabisco, has moved its headquarters to Mexico.
  • The Chocolate Chip Ahoy, on the other hand, is a letdown and a different tale.
  • The photographs included show what the ″originals″ looked like; however, this is NOT what you will receive if you purchase one of today’s FAKE CAKES.

Yesterday, I went out and got the Tasty Cake brand.I am quite pleased. The photographs in this review Purchased in the United States on May 25, 2016 and reviewed on May 26, 2016 The worst return of a product I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting was this one.I had to drink two glasses of milk in order to gulp down one of the cookies before throwing the entire box where it belonged in the trash. The original cake was at least a third larger, had a dark colored rich cake, and had a generous amount of soft cream.

  1. This was clearly designed for the uninitiated, not for those of us who were around for the first time in the first place.
  2. I was quite dissatisfied with Hostess.
  3. I had high expectations of them, to say the least.

Purchased in the United States on August 15, 2016 and reviewed on August 16, 2016Verified Purchase It’s a shame that the business that acquired Hostess didn’t leave Suzy Q’s alone when they should have.I was sad when they stopped producing these, but I am much more dissatisfied after sampling the ones that have recently been reintroduced to the market. They are in no way comparable to the quality of the old Suzy Q’s and are in no way comparable to Hostess Cupcakes. Why bother if they aren’t going to be as fantastic as you expect them to be?What a disappointment for prior Hostess admirers.

  5. Disappointment on a grand scale!
  6. The product is half the size of the original and has very little filling.
  • It doesn’t even have the same flavor as the original.

Purchase has been verified Suzi Quatro, a native daughter of Detroit who is mysteriously unknown in the United States, is given the star treatment she deserves in this fascinating, humorous, and dynamic documentary.Suzi has had numerous number one hits all over the world since the early 1970s, but aside from her one and only American hit, the Chris Norman duet ″Stumblin’ In,″ which went against her usual rockin’ style, she has been about as welcome on the U.S.charts as a sumo wrestler is at an all-you-can-eat buffet.Suzi has had numerous number one hits all over the world since the early 1970s.

Even her appearances as a guest star on Happy Days were unable to raise her recognition in the United States.Among others, Suzi forged a road that would be followed by Joan Jett, Chrissie Hynde, the Go- Go’s, and the Bangles in the years to come. After you’ve seen this film, go out and download some of her songs. You’ll be pleased you took the time to read this. This was beneficial to 8 people.

  • Rather sad look at the strained ties with her sisters, who never appeared to get over her departure from their initial organizations, The Pleasure Seekers and Cradle.

  • I’ve seen it all when it comes to rock and roll.
  • Purchase has been verified.
  • and to say that this is one of the finest films I’ve ever seen is a huge underestimate of the magnitude of the accomplishment.
  • Suzi was previously only known to me through a couple of early 1970s Sweet-inspired hits, but this documentary completely changes my perception of who Suzi is.
  • She is a seminal character in rock and roll, and it’s a crying travesty that she isn’t inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
  • Without Suzi, there would be no Runaways, no Joan Jett, no Blondie, and no Pretenders, to name a few bands.
  • Was trailblazing in what she did for rock n roll, not only for rock n roll, but also for females in rock n roll.
  • As a result of seeing this, I have realized that there is more to music than just what is commercially available.
  • Thank you, Suzi, once again for bringing this documentary to our attention.

  5. Unquestionably one of the greatest music documentaries I’ve ever watched.

Purchased with confidence. Finally, I gave in to Amazon (using ″free digital credits″ earned by not having any fast orders to ″rent″ this) and viewed it in its entirety.Because I’ve heard about her legend for years, including how she was an inspiration to Joan Jett and The Runaways and how I remember seeing her on Happy Days as Leather Tuscadero as a kid and thinking she was so cool, I’ve been wanting to see it since it came out last year.I honestly didn’t know much about her outside of that, and yeah once they started playing her songs, I recognized them as being really really good and catchy, but they were unfamiliar to me before that.I was either too young or not in the right mood when I first heard them, but they have a way of getting stuck in your mind and making you want to pump your fist or stamp your feet.I didn’t look for anything or do any research on her on purpose.

as a result, I would go into this with no prior knowledge of her and with no expectations (nothing ruins a documentary more than already knowing everything that is gonna be played out on screen the entire time) It was an emotional rollercoaster, which is to be expected from any outstanding documentary.I didn’t care for the part when she was out of fashion and doing theater and having kids and all the other stuff that I couldn’t identify with. However, like with any excellent tale, it was able to win me back at the end.I’d suggest it to everyone who like a good rock n roll documentaries. It’s a relief that this one doesn’t become tragic. She is still alive and well, and she is rocking out.

Suzi, her family, and her band were all depicted in a no-holds-barred manner in the film.It depicted both the highs and lows of how women were treated in the music industry throughout the 1970s and 1980s period. The fact that Suzi is still going strong and doing well after all these years is a comforting thought.See all of the reviews

For Many That Grew Up In Maine, These Hostess Fruit Pies Were Everything

  • If you walk into any convenience shop these days, you’ll discover a seemingly endless supply of snacks and sweets on every shelf and in every aisle.
  • Everything from cakes and donuts to candy bars and chips is available in a variety of flavors and shapes.
  • The ooey, gooey delight that were the original Hostess Fruit Pies, however, was once the most popular snack in Maine, surpassing all others at one point in time.

Their packaging alone may bring back memories, as it did when they were shared on the Facebook community page Do You Remember When a couple of years ago.Whether you grew up in Augusta, spent your childhood in Lewiston, or spent the summers at Old Orchard Beach, you could find Hostess Fruit Pies at corner stores, pharmacies, and markets everywhere.Everyone had a favorite variety of Hostess Fruit Pie, and they all ate them in a somewhat different way as well. They were split in half and the filling poured out, while others tore a small piece of the package and bit by bit.

Another option is to microwave the fruit pie before topping it with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, which some people prefer.Even while many of these fruit pie varieties are still available from Hostess, those who grew up with the originals will tell you that the newer versions are just a touch wrong. Not only that, but the rivalry among munchies is fiercer than ever, making a fruit pie seem a touch dated in comparison to other options. However, if you grew up in Maine and remember savoring a cherry, blueberry, or lemon fruit pie, and you happened to see one at your local grocery store now, wouldn’t you buy it?Without a doubt, the answer is yes.

Hostess selects Little Debbie maker

  • NEW YORK — The city of New York is undergoing a renaissance.
  • For its Drake’s cakes, Hostess has selected Little Debbie, the company that makes the popular cookie.
  • A petition in the United States Bankruptcy Court reveals that McKee Foods has made an offer of $27.5 million in cash for the cake brands, which include Devil Dogs, Funny Bones, and Yodels among others.

The destiny of Twinkies and other Hostess cakes is still up in the air as negotiations with potential buyers continue.Hostess also said that United States Bakery has agreed to pay $28.9 million for the company’s other bread brands, which include Sweetheart, Eddy’s, Standish Farms, and Grandma Emilie’s, among others.Four bakeries, 14 depots, and equipment are included in this package.Flowers Foods, which manufactures Tastykake, Nature’s Own, and Bunny bread, was selected as the winning bidder for six of Hostess’ biggest bread brands, including Wonder, earlier this month.

McKee Foods’ ″stalking horse″ bid would open the door to a competitive bidding procedure, allowing competitors to make stronger bids than McKee Foods’ first bid.The final transaction would need to be approved by a judge, and Hostess claimed it would close no later than May 30 if all goes as planned.McKee’s proposal contains certain equipment, but not the Drake’s bakery in Wayne, New Jersey, which is included in the Drake’s bid.″The firm is continuing to market all remaining assets,″ according to Tom Becker, a spokesman for the corporation.McDonald’s subsidiary McKee Foods, situated in Collegedale in Tennessee, produces a line of snack cakes under the Little Debbie brand that are priced lower than Hostess cakes and compete with them on taste and texture.

The Cloud Cakes, for example, are reminiscent of Twinkies, while the Devil Cremes are reminiscent of Devil Dogs.Mike Gloekler, a spokesperson for McKee Foods, stated that the business has no plans to discontinue any of its brands as a result of the acquisition.According to Gloekler, ″Our objective is to make similar items to what they are now doing because they have different packaging and formulations.″ In addition, he stated that McKee planned to manufacture Drake’s goods at its factory in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, because Drake’s cakes are best known in the Northeast.

  • Hostess had already stated in court that it needs to act rapidly in selling off its brands in order to benefit on the outpouring of nostalgia and media coverage that has resulted from the company’s closure.
  • The corporation reiterated this opinion in a court filing on Monday, saying that there is no promotion or marketing for Drake’s brands, which include Ring Dings, Sunny Doodles, and Yankee Doodles, as well as other similar products.
  • Consumers are more inclined to utilize rivals’ items if Drake’s products remain off the shelves for an extended period of time, as stated in the petition.
  • In a typical year, McKee generates over $1.1 billion in sales, with the Little Debbie cake segment responsible for approximately $800 million of that total, according to the firm.

McKee has seen its sales stagnate or decline in recent years as consumer dining patterns have shifted in the United States. The company had sought bids for its trademarks by the 10th of December after announcing that it was going out of business in September of this year.In a filing on Monday, the firm stated that it had received one proposal for ″virtually all″ of its assets from a single party.Hostess, on the other hand, said that the bid was not as valuable as the sum of the bids it received for each individual brand. In addition, Hostess stated that the bidder that made the offer did ″very little due research″ before making the offer.

Little Debbie, All Grown Up

  • Updated at 4:03 p.m.

  • There’s a tale behind that cute image on the bag of cupcakes you can’t seem to put down once you start eating it.

It turns out that the young lady with auburn hair, cowboy hat, and a button nose is Little Debbie, the granddaughter of the founders of McKee Foods Corp., which manufactures the cake line.McKee, which according to sources is expected to be the lead bidder for Hostess Brands Inc.’s Drake’s cakes brand, bidding between $25 million and $30 million for the business that produces Yodels, Devil Dogs, and Ring Dings, launched its Little Debbie line in 1960 with the introduction of the Little Debbie cake mix.One of the packaging salesman’s clients served as the idea for the brand, according to an article published in the Chattanooga Times Free Press.Chris McKee, another grandson of the founders, told the newspaper that a salesman informed his grandpa that the McKee surname was too ″boring″ and suggested that he use the name of one of his grandkids as a replacement for it.

Finally, the name Little Debbie was chosen, and firm co-founder Ruth McKee, Debbie’s grandmother, chose a black-and-white photograph that was produced by an artist and slapped on the front of packages for years to come.According to McKee Foods, the innovation associated with the new name and emblem was a carton of 12 individual snack cakes sold as a ″family pack″ for 49 cents that was related to the new name and brand.Twelve cakes would have cost 60 cents if they had been purchased separately.McKee Foods had already been in business for 26 years when it launched the Little Debbie brand in the United States.Jack’s Cookie Co.

was created in 1934 by O.D.and Ruth McKee, who purchased a small bakery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, named Jack’s Cookie Co.and converted it to a cake manufacturing facility.

Amazon.com: Hostess Suzy Q Cakes: Grocery & Gourmet Food

  • A rating of one out of five stars THE CAKE DOESN’T HAVE ANY FLAVOR.
  • THESE ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL CAKES.
  • MAKE SAVINGS OF MONEY.

  • Yesterday, I went out and got the Tasty Cake brand.
  • I am quite pleased.
