Dairy-Free Cheesecake (Baked, Vegan)
If not better than any other baked cheesecake you’ve ever tasted, this dairy-free cheesecake is made in a cheesecake pan and baked in the oven. It’s creamy and cheesy, and it’s very delicious!Consequently, you may have noticed me moaning on my blog about not being able to obtain dairy-free cream cheese.Well, image how delighted I was when I discovered some Tofutti dairy-free cream cheese when wandering around my local store the other day!
- I was so ecstatic that I ended up buying almost the whole store’s supply of it.
- After that, I started to work on some baked cheesecakes.
- There were several attempts before I achieved the desired consistency, but wow, this cheesecake has the identical consistency of the baked cheesecakes you’re familiar with and adore!
- In a non-dairy version.
This recipe is, of course, devoid of eggs; after all, this is a vegan blog! However, it does not seem to miss the eggs at all.If you enjoy cheesecake, you’ll probably enjoy our no-bake vegan cheesecake and vegan pumpkin cheesecake, which are both available on our website.
How to Make Baked Vegan Cheesecake
In the recipe card at the bottom of this page, you will find detailed instructions and measurements for this dish. This is a synopsis of the process to accompany the process photographs.
- My crust of choice for this recipe is an old favorite of mine: an oreo cookie crust! For this cheesecake’s crust, golden oreos and vegan butter combine to create the right texture.
- Simply place the oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they are crumbs.
Afterwards, add in the melted vegan butter and process until all of the crumbs are evenly coated with the butter again.
- Press down into a 9-inch round pie dish.
The Filling Part One:
- A can of cold coconut cream with the separated cream portion only is added to a blender jug as the first step in preparing the filling
- the second step is to mix until smooth.
- Blend in the cashews until smooth.
Because this is extremely thick, a Vitamix will be ideal for blending it all up quickly. The best thing to do, however, if you have a poorer model blender, will be to combine the coconut cream first, till it is thoroughly blended, and then add the cashews and integrate them into the coconut cream.
The Filling Part Two:
- Then you’ll go on to the second half of the filling, which involves combining two tubs of vegan cream cheese (we used Tofutti) with caster sugar (also known as superfine sugar), cornstarch, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla essence in the bowl of your stand mixer.
- Initially moving at a modest pace, gradually increasing the speed until everything is well combined
- TIP: Take care not to overmix the ingredients. Don’t just turn on the mixer and walk away. Then, (as seen in the photo), carefully fold in the coconut cream and cashew blended mixture, as well as the lemon zest, to the cream cheese mixture.
- Make a smooth layer of filling on top of the golden Oreo crust
- set aside.
- Bake the cheesecake for 60 minutes at 320 degrees Fahrenheit (160 degrees Celsius).
- After an hour of baking, turn off the oven and open the oven door to let the cheesecake cool. Leave the cheesecake in the oven for another hour to allow it to cool down slowly.
- It will be a bit jiggly in the centre when it is just out of the oven, but don’t worry, it will firm up as it cools.
- After it has finished cooling in the oven, take it to a cutting board and let it to cool completely to room temperature before transferring it to the refrigerator until completely cold, ideally overnight.
- Toss in the garnish and serve
No Water Bath
By baking at a low temperature, we can avoid the necessity for a water bath in this cheesecake. In addition to baking at a low temperature for an hour, we open the oven door after it has cooked for an hour and allow it to cool down gently for an additional hour.Because you are baking it slowly and then chilling it gently, you will not have cracks on the top of the cake. It’s possible that mine broke a bit on the top, as you can see in the photo above, but that was only because I became irritated with the cooling process and cut it short.
- If you allow it to cool slowly and steadily, it is less likely to crack.
- However, this teeny-tiny fracture in the top isn’t enough to persuade me to go through the trouble of soaking it in water.
- Particularly considering that the crack will simply be filled with a cookie crumb topping.
Crushed golden oreo cookies are used as a topping for this dish. The topping is absolutely optional, and you aren’t even required to use a topping at all while making this dish. All I care about is how it looks with all of those cookie crumbs on top!
Vegan Baked Cheesecake Q&A

- What is the shelf life of dairy-free cheesecake?
- Keep it refrigerated and it will last for approximately 5-7 days at room temperature.
- Is it possible to freeze vegan baked cheesecake?

- I made a few slices ahead of time and then thawed them in the refrigerator, and they were very excellent.

For the Crust:
- ▢ 28 Golden Oreos
- ▢ ⅓ cup Vegan Butter (75g) Melted
For the Filling:
- Hardened coconut cream solely from a cooled 14 ounce (400 mL) can, refrigerated in the fridge overnight
- 1 cup raw cashews
- 16 ounces Dairy Free Cream Cheese (or a dairy-free cream cheese substitute) (450g) We used Tofutti brand
- 1 2 3 cups Caster Sugar (330g) Superfine Sugar*
- 12 cup Cornstarch (64g)
- 12 tsp Salt
- 5 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 tbsp Lemon Zest
- 1 2 3 cups Caster Sugar (330g) Superfine Sugar*
- 1 2 3 cups Caster Sugar (330g) Superfine Sugar*
- 1 2 3 cups Caster Sugar (330g) Superfine Sugar
For the Topping (Optional):
- ▢ 6 Golden Oreos Crushed
- Preheat the oven to 320 degrees Fahrenheit (160 degrees Celsius)
- Place the oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they are finely ground. With a small saucepan over low heat, melt the vegan butter, then add it to the food processor and process it again until all of the crumbs are covered in butter. Spray a 9-inch round pie dish* with nonstick cooking spray and press the cookie crumbs into an equal layer on the bottom of the dish. While you’re preparing your filling, set it aside.
- To use the chilled coconut cream, remove it from the refrigerator and open the can. Using a spoon, carefully scoop out the solid cream that has risen to the top of the blender jug, discarding the liquid half. Blend in the raw cashews until they are completely smooth. If your blender is not strong enough (such as a Vitamix), start by blending the coconut cream, then add the cashew nuts and process until well combined. Remove from consideration.
- In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the two tubs of dairy-free cream cheese, the caster sugar, the cornstarch, the salt, the lemon juice, and the vanilla essence. Mix until smooth.
- Beginning at a slow pace, gradually raise the speed until everything is well combined. Be cautious not to overmix
- it just has to be well mixed in
- do not leave the mixer running for long periods of time.
- Add the coconut cream and cashew mixture, as well as a pinch of lemon zest, to the cream cheese mixture and fold everything together.
- Using a spatula, spread the filling over the crust and smooth it down
- Bake for 60 minutes at 350°F.
- If it’s still a bit jiggly in the centre, that’s OK. After 60 minutes, turn off the oven and open the oven door slightly, allowing the cheesecake to cool gently for an hour.
- After it has finished cooling in the oven, transfer it to a cutting board and let it to cool to room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator until completely cold. If you have the opportunity to leave it overnight, that is perfect.
- Then, once it has been thoroughly cold and firmed up, add the crumb topping and serve
- Oreos with a golden coating. If you like, you may substitute the golden Oreos for an other vegan cookie, such as coconut cream cookies. In most cases, the hardened/separated cream from one 14-ounce can of coconut cream will equal around 1 and 14 cups of liquid (300ml). If you need to substitute coconut cream in this recipe with another type of cream, use the following amount of coconut cream:
- Caster sugar is a kind of sugar. If you are unable to get caster sugar (superfine sugar), you can use standard granulated white sugar for the purpose of baking.
- Pie dish is a rectangular dish with a rim. Our pie plate measures 9 inches in diameter and 2 and 12 inches in depth. It is necessary to use a deep pie plate in order to accommodate the amount of this cheesecake. Alternatively, a 9-inch springform pan might be used.
- Make it gluten-free by following these steps: Due to the fact that the filling is already gluten-free, all that is required to make this cheesecake gluten-free is the use of gluten-free sandwich cookies (or other gluten-free cookies) to make the crust.
- Keeping things in storage and freezing them: Keep it refrigerated and it will last for approximately 5-7 days at room temperature. Additionally, it is freezer-friendly.

Quite pleased with these! (As a base)
14th of February, 2022 However, despite the fact that I am neither vegan or dairy free, I decided to give them a try because I enjoy sampling any individually wrapped delicacies.Obviously, you won’t get the same exact texture and flavor as a classic cheesecake, but I was really satisfied with the results of these. What I like most to do with them is to whip up a quick berry compote to serve on top of the baked goods.I simply cooked blueberries or raspberries (or both) in a small saucepan on the stovetop for 15 – 20 minutes, then poured the mixture over one of these little cheesecakes *chef’s kiss* and set aside.
- Very well done.
The date is January 8, 2022. Delicious! It has the texture and flavor of genuine cheesecake. I really like the individual cup. Kathy
Better off having the real thing
The 16th of March, 2021 Dear TJ, you are well aware that you have made a vegan snack that is high in carbohydrates and does not even taste delicious. Cameron’s response:
Good but not the best
The date is September 26, 2020. The product is satisfactory for a vegan product, but it is not the greatest cheesecake, and it is not even healthy because it contains a large amount of sugar. Instead, eat the genuine thing, which has more protein and tastes better, instead. Evo
The date is August 6, 2020.I’m not a vegan, but I do consume more plant-based foods than I do non-plant-based foods.I spotted them on Instagram and knew I had to give them a try.In each box, there are two individual cheesecakes to enjoy.
- It states that the product should be thawed for 2-2.5 hours.
- I couldn’t stand the thought of waiting, so I ate it cold.
- It was very excellent!
- The creamy texture is just what I was looking for.
- The taste is fantastic.
I get a taste of vanilla, as well as citrus.Lemon juice is included among the components.Excellent vegan sweets are hard to come by, but this one is really delectable.Thank you very much, TJ’s!Jen
The Vegan Guide to the Cheesecake Factory
The Cheesecake Factory’s extensive menu might be overwhelming, but if you limit your search to vegan selections, you can quickly narrow down your choices.Over the years, the business has made significant improvements to its plant-based menu—hello, Impossible burgers and Pasta Pomodoro!Unfortunately, we’re still waiting for that vegan cheesecake, but if you’re invited to a celebration dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, you can be certain that you won’t be hungry at any point. The Cheesecake Factory kitchen staff that we spoke with recommended against most adjustments since they would ″disrupt the taste profiles.″ Please keep this in mind when making substitutions for non-vegan dishes in order to cover all of the conceivable alternatives.
- Make any changes at your own risk.
Take a quick pass on the fusion egg rolls and head right for the edamame instead. Keep that dish to yourself as everyone else fights over the fried meals that are loaded with meat and cheese. If you don’t feel like eating salted soybeans, try the avocado toast instead. Alicia LaTour is a woman who works in the fashion industry.
It’s important to know that there are two types of salads: appetizer salads and entrée salads. When ordered with vegan dressing, both the Little House Salad and the Tossed Green Salad are vegan-friendly as-is (Balsamic Vinaigrette, Shallot Vinaigrette, SkinnyLicious Mustard Vinaigrette, and French Mustard Vinaigrette). There are other smaller-sized salads that are safe to eat, such as the Greek Salad (ask for it without cheese), Avocado Beet Salad (ask for it without the yogurt dressing), and French Country Salad (ask for it without the candied pecans).Dig your fork into the hearty Vegan Cobb Salad if you’re looking for a heavier serving of greens.
- Served in an irresistible vinaigrette over a bed of lettuce with seasonal fresh and roasted vegetables, grains, nuts, and seeds.
- There are also other salads that vegans can customize, including the Santa Fe Salad (ask for no cheese or chicken), Barbecue Ranch Chicken Salad (no cheese or chicken, but do include onion strings and substitute vegan dressing), and the Salmon Salad (ask for no salmon).
- In essence, if a salad appears to be delicious but includes animal components, remove the meat and cheese and replace them with a vegan-friendly dressing.
- You may also request that it be bulked out with grains or toasted avocado.
- The Cheesecake Factory is a restaurant that specializes in cheesecake.
To put it another way, hamburgers. If you’re in the mood for something hearty and filling, the Impossible Burger is your best choice. The fully plant-based sandwich is heaped high between two buns that have been smeared with special sauce and topped with an Impossible burger, melty vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion.Choose between a green salad or french fries to accompany your meal.
- A vegan version of the made-from-scratch Veggie Burger is also available (at select locations; check with your waiter for details) if ordered without the garlic dip and with vegan cheese, mayo, and a vegan bun instead of the regular bun.
- As a result of your newfound understanding of vegan burger toppings, you may get creative and customize your veggie or Impossible patties with whatever appeals to your fancy.
The Cheesecake Factory’s sides are similar to those found in a steakhouse, in that they are relatively vegan-friendly. Side dishes such as grilled asparagus, steamed broccoli, fresh corn, sweet potato or normal fries, green beans, and sautéed spinach may be a complete dinner in and of itself. Kween (vegan)
While the pizza variety may be limiting, there are plenty of spaghetti meals that can be made vegan-friendly by substituting vegan ingredients. To its very heart, the Pasta Pomodoro is a plant-based dish that adheres to the traditional recipe of spaghetti, marinara sauce, cherry tomatoes, and basil. The primarily vegetable-based meal Evelyn’s Favorite Pasta is practically vegan if you skip the cheese and use a vegan sauce. In exchange for a fee, you can get away with not having the shrimp in the Shrimp with Angel Hair meal (in which case you’ll still receive a lemony garlic angel hair dish with marinara and tomatoes).
- If you ask respectfully, the server may agree to your request to include more vegetables in the previous meal you ordered.

Even though Mexican food isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of the Cheesecake Factory, the restaurant company has managed to include plenty of tacos, burritos, and other Mexican-inspired entrées onto its speciality menu throughout the years. At first appearance, there appears to be nothing vegan on this menu; however, substitutions may be made.Fill corn tortillas with black beans, onions, avocado, rice, lettuce, and salsa, and then top with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime to make a vegan taco that everyone will love.
While we don’t recommend eating at the Cheesecake Factory for your morning meal, if you find yourself in the company of a non-vegan group, there are some options.Fruit, toast, bagels, and crispy potatoes are among of the alternatives available. The chef may be persuaded to sauté up a hash of potatoes and vegetables if you insisted on having a vegetable, but it is absolutely not on the menu.Whenever possible, ask for alterations with a kind grin on your face, and you’ll be more than likely to get your desire fulfilled.
According to the rules, there is just one vegan option: a dish of fresh strawberries with no whipped cream. When we’re in a different situation, we’re quite fine to eat juicy, ripe strawberries, but when we’re doing so as our dinner mates swoon over the delights of a four-inch-high cheesecake slice, we’d like something a bit sweeter. To the Cheesecake Factory, if you’re out there and reading this, please offer the world a vegan cheesecake option, complete with a colossal mountain of dairy-free whipped cream on the side.Thank you very much.

Leading Cream Cheese Brand Philadelphia Launches Its First Dairy-Free Spread
This article was originally published on January 6, 2022.The most recent update was on February 25, 2022.Time allotted for three minutes Read Philadelphia, a popular cream cheese company established in the United States, has introduced its first dairy-free product, Philadelphia Plant Based. The new cheese will be available in Tesco shops across the United Kingdom.
- Following a late-season campaign to persuade customers not to bake cheesecakes in the wake of a cream cheese scarcity, the Philadelphia brand now offers a realistic alternative to the shortfall: a vegan soft cheese, which is the company’s first.
- It has never been more evident than it is right now, according to Louise Stigant, UK managing director of Philadelphia’s parent company, Mondelez International.
- ″With more than half a million people taking part in this year’s Veganuary, the appetite for plant-based alternatives has never been greater,″ she added.
- In order to ensure that the new Philadelphia Plant Based truly delivers the same great taste and creaminess that people have come to expect from Philadelphia, we worked hard to ensure that there was a Philadelphia product for everyone.
- We’re delighted that no bagel or slice of toasted sourdough will ever be without Philadelphia again!″
Two years in development
According to the firm, the dairy-free product was two years in the making and is produced from a combination of oats and almonds. Also included is 100 percent recyclable packaging, with recycled plastic on the way—a step that the company claims is part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.Despite the fact that Philadelphia is a fixture on American grocery store shelves, the company stated it picked the United Kingdom for its launch because of the country’s significant interest in a plant-based diet.According to Mondelez, one in every five shoppers in the United Kingdom is either interested in or already follows a plant-based diet.
- As the number of individuals signing up for Veganuary (a monthlong campaign encouraging consumers to eat plant-based for the full month of January) is anticipated to treble, more people than ever are interested in adopting a flexitarian diet, according to the report.
- They also want meat and dairy alternatives that are as good as or better than the originals.
- ″Given the rising importance of plant-based lifestyles for buyers, we feel our new plant-based recipe is a step forward in the market to raise awareness of cheese alternatives, which excel in flavor and quality,″ said Abi Eayrs, brand manager at Graze.
- Following great results in testing, we are convinced that the exciting new launch from a well-known brand will generate wider category growth in the long run, resulting in success in the retail environment.
Vegan cheese demand
The debut in Philadelphia follows on the heels of another significant dairy-free cheese launch earlier this year. Also in advance of Veganuary, Babybel, the iconic snacking cheese brand, introduced its first vegan product, Babybel Vegan Cheese.According to Ollie Richmond, brand manager for Bel Brands, ″we’ve witnessed an incredible amount of demand for the creation of a vegan-friendly Babybel over the course of the years.″ ″With the plant-based market continuing to develop at a rapid pace, the new launch comes at the opportune time to satisfy growing customer demand.″ Philadelphia Plant Based is currently available exclusively at 699 Tesco stores around the country, as well as on the Tesco website.Philadelphia provided the image for the lead.
Trader Joe’s Vegan Cream Cheese Review
I’m a tremendous fan of bagels and cream cheese and could eat them every day.Anyone who knows me will confirm that I’ve eaten cream cheese with some form of bread item (baguette, toast, English muffin) practically every single morning for the past 20 years or more.I’m not exaggerating! My veganism lasted a few years throughout my teenage years, during which time I relied on Tofutti brand cream cheese because it was the only sort available at the time (that I could find).
- Despite the fact that it does not taste anything like the Philadelphia brand cream cheese cubes that were always my favorite, it has its own distinct flavor that I have come to like.
- As soon as I made the decision to go vegan again a few years ago (this time for good), I set out on a mission to try every every variety of vegan cream cheese I could get my hands on.
- I’ve also experimented with a number of vegan cream cheese recipes.
- Of course, this is a never-ending quest, but thus far in this journey, this Trader’s Joe’s vegan cream cheese has been the best-tasting vegan cream cheese on the market (that I’ve tasted).
- There is generally some liquid/solid separation in the container, so it is best to give it a thorough whipping when you first open it, otherwise it will turn into a beautiful creamy spread.
The flavor is modest, but there is a slight tang to it.Even though it’s a coconut oil-based spread, there is some soy in it (for those that need to avoid it).Because there is no lemon or vinegar stated in the ingredients, it’s possible that the tang or zip is coming from the ″vegan cultures″ in the product.I’m not sure what it is, but it’s really dang tasty!Given that I live an hour away from Trader Joe’s, I stock up whenever I can.
However, when I run out of Tofutti cream cheese, I go out and get some.My partner is now working in Vermont and happens to pass by a Trader Joe’s on his way home, so he stopped and purchased me six cartons of the stuff. He’s fantastic, and that should keep me going for a few days at the very least:) Additionally, I used this cream cheese to make the frosting for my vegan cream cheese frosting recipe, which turned out fantastic!
- For me, the only difficulty is that it’s difficult to give up one of my tubs for frosting because they are difficult to come by (although icing is a wonderful cause!).
- What do you think?
- I believe that this cream cheese is the greatest vegan cream cheese in the entire world (at least the best that I’ve personally experienced).
Trader Joe’s Is Now Selling Vegan Cheesecakes
Vegan cheesecakes are now available at Trader Joe’s.″Trader Joe’s Cheese-Less ‘Cheesecakes’″ were recently introduced in the frozen dessert section of the grocery chain’s low prices. Each container of 8.04-ounce cheesecakes contains two cheesecakes. They feature a silky, custard-like texture, and a subtle vanilla taste, according to the business, which describes the new dairy-free sweets as follows: This recipe substitutes lima beans for cream cheese, and the filling is created with a combination of coconut oil, konjac, and agave syrup.
- Because of its comparable texture to gelatin, konjac, a prominent ingredient in Japanese cuisine, is sometimes substituted for gelatin.
- The oats and graham flour are used to make the crust.
- Trader Joe’s recommends sprinkling fresh fruit on top of the cheesecakes or using dairy-free whipped cream.
- Vegan vanilla cheesecake is currently available at Trader Joe’s.

Vegan at Trader Joe’s
- Trader Joe’s has been offering vegan sweets for quite some time.
- When it first opened its doors in late 2018, their vegan banana bread was renowned for being difficult to come by.
- Vanilla was the flavor of choice for the company’s first almond-based ice cream, which was introduced earlier this year.
- In response to client demand, the company’s Soy Creamy Cherry Chocolate Chip ice cream was temporarily removed from the freezer aisle last year then reintroduced.
- We’re also working on developing vegan milk chocolate bars made with almond butter.
- Alison Nadler Guerette, category manager for sweets, cookies, and cereal, stated in episode 21 of the Inside Trader Joe’s podcast that the bar has a flavor that is similar to dairy-based milk chocolate.
- In the absence of being informed, I would not have realized the difference.
- Her description of the flavor was simple: ″It just tasted like really excellent creamy milk chocolate.″ Trader Joe’s is experiencing a surge in demand for plant-based items.
Because of the chain’s other reasonably priced vegan offerings, it has developed a significant following. The Impossible Burger, which retails for $7.99 per 12-ounce box and is available at all 503 locations, was introduced late last month. The restaurant business now sells turkey and beef burgers that are devoid of meat under its own label.Unlike Impossible meat and the Beyond Burger, which are derived from animal protein, both products are made from pea protein and appear identical to raw meat before being cooked.Vegan mac & cheese, which was just introduc
