Each of these processes corresponds to the image collage above.

  1. Prepare the cake according to the directions on the package and bake it. Make use of your preferred brand of cake mix to make this cake. Duncan Hines and Betty Crocker are two of our favorite bakers.
  2. Make holes in the heated cake with a fork. When you do this, it’s ideal to do it while the cake is still warm so that it can absorb the pudding mixture that will be added next.
  3. Combine the milk and pudding mix in a large mixing bowl. Even while we don’t have any other options than whole milk, I’m confident that 2 percent would work just as well
  4. Pour all of the pudding mix over the cake, reserving 1/2 cup for the top. The 1/2 cup that was set aside will be utilized in a subsequent phase.
  5. Spread the pudding mix about if necessary, since you want to ensure that all of the holes in the cake are filled with the pudding. Refrigerate the cake for 2 hours once it has been covered.
  6. Combine the whipped topping and 1/2 cup pudding in a large mixing bowl. This should be spread all over the top of the cooled cake.
  7. Oreo cookies should be crushed. As an alternative, you might chop the vegetables or pulse them in a food processor.
  8. Spread cookie bits on top of the cake to make a decorative layer. It’s better to do this right before serving to avoid them becoming soggy.

  • CAKE FLAVORS OTHER THAN OREO – I prefer to use chocolate cake since it goes so well with Oreo, and you can use any flavor of chocolate cake for this recipe. You can, however, substitute vanilla cake mix for the chocolate cake mix or any other flavor you choose.
  • Create poke cupcakes instead of a 9-inch-round cake by following the package directions to make a dozen cupcakes. Make holes in the cupcakes and proceed with the recipe as directed.

  • Using convenience items like cake mix, Jell-O, and Dream Whip or Cool Whip, the advertisement demonstrated the fast and simple brilliance of creating hip and mod desserts out of everyday ingredients.

Jello Poke Cake FAQs

Cook with little or no prior experience (an 8 year old could make this with oven help) Purchase an unfrosted white cake from the bakery or bakery area of your local grocery store to make this process more quicker and easier to complete.

What is a poke cake?

  1. Poke cakes are any baked goods that have holes poking through them, allowing the cake to be soaked with pudding, fruit puree, or gelatin.
  2. A tiny toothpick is not used in this process, nor is it the same as poking a hole in a cake to allow it to absorb condensed milk or other liquid.
  3. The holes in a poke cake have a tendency to retain part of the filling you’ve put in them, resulting in pockets of filling all over the cake.
  4. Due to the addition of gelatin or other liquid to the cake, it is an excellent recipe for novices since the cake never becomes dry.

What do you use to poke holes in cake?

  1. For this poke cake, a little dowel or the handle of a wooden spoon would do – anything with a diameter of approximately the same as a pencil will do.
  2. It is important not to cut all the way through the cake, but rather to vary the depth of the holes from approximately half way down to about three-quarters of the way down the cake.
  3. Adding a slight twist to the dowel will aid in the cake’s ability to retain additional filling.

Do you have to refrigerate a poke cake?

Most poke cakes, regardless of whether they are covered in pudding, Jello, or something else, must be kept refrigerated.

Can you make it ahead of time?

Making it 2 days ahead of time and not frosting it until the day before serving it is an option. Making it a day ahead of time and frosting it is also an option, although it is not recommended. Make careful to cover it firmly since the whipped icing will absorb the aromas and flavors of the refrigerator and develop strange flavors.

How do you store a poke cake?

Maintain the securely sealed state of your poke cake in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Afterwards, it will have a soggy feel and a peculiar texture due to the moisture.

Banana Pudding Poke Cake: Notes, Tips and Variations

  • Be Efficient With The Pudding! – Typically, the pudding packaging states that it will set in 5 minutes or less. I’ve discovered that it is far faster than that. If you want the pudding to solidify and thicken, you should pour it on top of the cake right away. It will be able to go down into the holes in this manner. To do this, pour the pudding over the cake as soon as you can after you have removed the lumps from the mix.
  • Bananas that are ripe
  • – For this recipe, you will want to use bananas that are lovely and ripe
  • How Long Can Banana Pudding Poke Cake Be Stored in the Freezer?
  • – Yes, that is possible. However, make careful to allow the cake to set completely before freezing it. Adding bananas or even Vanilla Wafers before freezing would be a no-no in my opinion. It could even make sense to cover individual pieces of the cake in plastic wrap so that you can defrost and decorate them when you are ready to serve them later.
  • Do you have any alternate toppings?
  • In addition to the Vanilla Wafers, which are the most popular topping for this dish, there are a variety of other interesting options: Animal Crackers (including the frosted version) or chocolate wafers are some of the cookies that may be made with shortbread cookies. I’d like to try this recipe with crushed Oreos sprinkled on top as an additional variation. The combo of chocolate and bananas is one of my favorites! You may also include nuts in your recipe! The use of crushed Walnuts, Pecans, or shaved Almonds might be effective.
  • What Is The Best Way To Store Banana Pudding Poke Cake?
  • – This cake will need to be refrigerated once it has been made. It should be good for up to 5 days in the fridge. It is possible that the bananas will turn brown and the wafers will go mushy, but the dessert will still be edible for a couple of days. This cake pan is one of our favorites to use. Because it comes with a cover, you can just keep it in the pan without having to worry about using aluminum foil or saran wrap! Some individuals like to wait until they are about to serve their cake before adding the bananas and wafers on top, in order to ensure that the cake stays as fresh as possible. You should do this if you are not planning on serving it all at once and aren’t too concerned about how it will look.
  • Is it necessary to use a yellow cake mix?
  • – Nope. You are free to use any flavor you wish in this recipe. I believe the majority of people use the color yellow to correspond with the banana motif. However, other colors such as white and even chocolate might be used. The combination of bananas an
