    It sounds a little crazy, doesn’t it?What’s wrong with putting a cardboard cake round on top of an already-frosted cake?But I can assure you that it works wonders.Essentially, it allows you to make the cake look like it has a flower ″top.″ Adding frosting and smothering the cake in flowers will transform it into a show-stopping confection..There are two reasons why I like this cardboard cake round approach.The first is that none of the flowers come into contact with the cake at any point during the process.

    This means that you won’t have to worry about wrapping stems or using only edible flowers because you won’t have to.When it’s time to cut and serve the cake, all you have to do is run a large offset spatula under the cardboard cake round to do the cutting and serving.It just pops right off, and you can cut slices of cake with ease after that.Get all the excitement of fresh flowers without any of the hassle!I love this approach, because it makes life so much easier.

    • If you’ve ever tried to cut a cake with fresh flowers on it, you’ll totally get it.
    • By using the cardboard round approach, you don’t have to cut around all the flowers.
    • You also don’t have to pull each flower off the cake, or worry about floral tape getting stuck in the frosting (it’s gross!).

    How Long Do Fresh Flowers Last On A Cake?

    • Cake layers and icing may be created ahead of time, but adding fresh flowers to a cake is not something I would advocate doing in advance.
    • Flowers require water to keep from withering and becoming wilted.
    • It is possible that they will lose their shine if they are applied on the cake more than a day before the event takes place.
    • I like to decorate cakes with fresh flowers on the same day that they will be served.

    Despite the fact that my response makes life a little more difficult, you have to believe me on this one.If you decide to include them the day before, you will be disappointed.The morning of my wedding, I intend to decorate my own wedding cake with fresh flowers, which I will do the day before.Unfortunately, there are no short cuts in this situation.

    • When it comes to adding fresh flowers to cakes, I’ve seen a lot of different postings, and many of them recommend taping the stems together or even inserting them into straws to go inside the cake itself.
    • Having done this several times, I prefer the toothpick approach I developed since it creates a much smaller hole in the cake and ensures that no portion of your fresh flower has to be inserted into the cake.
    • To use a toothpick, just cut the stem of the flower exactly at the base of the bloom and place a toothpick into the hole where the stem was previously located.
    • Carefully insert the toothpick into the cake, making sure that the base of the flower does not come into contact with it.

Especially appealing to me was how the muscari seemed as if they were sprouting from the cake’s base and emerging from it at the top, which further contributed to the ″growing″ theme.     • A focus spray was used at the base of the cake for this design.
    • Roses and spray roses are excellent flowers to use in this type of arrangement.
    • Create a more natural look using herb foliage (I used bay leaves and thyme) and utilize the buds of spray roses to create more unique shapes and textures to the arrangement.
    • The toothpick approach was used to adhere all of the flowers in this arrangement as well.

    Lush Cake Design

    This rich and lush design provides the impression of a growing garden all around the base of the cake, and it would look stunning on a bigger tiered cake of any height or width. This design was made fascinating by the use of a variety of flowers and a large number of herbs as foliage.

    Decorating a Wedding Cake with Edible Flowers

    • But, before you start piling bouquets of flowers on top of your wedding cake, heed this word of caution.
    • Not all flowers are suitable for consumption.
    • In truth, some flowers are quite deadly, and it appears that not even our favorite gastronomic experts are immune to the dangers of using flowers into cooking and decorating recipes.

This is due to the fact that the stalks continue to come into touch with your cake (from the bottom opening of the straws).

    Attaching Wired Sugar Flowers to Cakes

    It is quite similar to caring for fresh flowers in terms of how you manage wired sugar flowers or gum paste flowers. Flowers will not wilt if you do the following: wrap a couple of paper towels over the bottom few inches of the stems
    • dip the towels in water and then place the soaking wet part in a plastic bag
    • dip the towels in water and then place the soaking wet section in a plastic bag
    • Make sure the branches have excellent contact with the wet towels by gently pressing the air out of them. S
