    It is quite similar to caring for fresh flowers in terms of how you manage wired sugar flowers or gum paste flowers.     Measure and cut a piece of flowery tape that is approximately 2-3 inches in length.Wrap the tape around the stem, being sure to cover the bulk of the stem as well as the areas where it has been trimmed.Here, the idea is to establish a barrier between the cake and the stem, particularly at the bottom of the stem, in order to prevent the stem from spilling flower secretion (yeah, that’s a disgusting sounding band name, but it’s also a good one!) into the cake layer below.

    Wrapping the stem in this manner also helps to keep the flowers fresh for a longer period of time since it aids in the retention of moisture and nutrients within the stem.

    Step 3: Decorate The Cake

    Following your successful creation of a good barrier between your cake and your floral stems, as well as your decision to select flowers from the safe list, it’s time to arrange them on your cake – my favorite part of the process!In order to commit to an arrangement, I normally spend some time roughly planning where I want to position the flowers (both on and off the cake).Once you’ve decided on a strategy, begin inserting the wrapped stems into the cake one at a time.
